Apex Rithmic connection issue

I am unable to connect to my Apex account using Rithmic. I have had a call with Apex and we have tried all sorts of setting combinations, I always get the same 'Permission Denied' error. I have seen several threads on your support pages and other docs you provide. Nothing is working. The Apex support agent is able to see my connections to Rithmic using rTrader Pro and also Quantower. We also used Quantower with an incorrect password which he was also able to see on the server log. However none of the connection attempts from Sierra are being seen on Rithmics server log which has to mean the request is not getting to rithmic. I have also compared my settings with a friend who also uses Apex on SC and for some reason it just wont connect for me.

Here are some lines from the message log:
2024-02-08 13:34:38.847 | HTTPS connection ID:3 to www.rithmic.com:443 for request ID:3 (1) | Creating socket. Using TLS 1.2.
2024-02-08 13:34:38.847 | HTTPS connection ID:3 to www.rithmic.com:443 for request ID:3 (1) | New receive buffer size: 0
2024-02-08 13:34:38.847 | HTTPS connection ID:3 to www.rithmic.com:443 for request ID:3 (1) | Connecting to IP: 38.79.0.89.
2024-02-08 13:34:39.484 | HTTPS connection ID:3 to www.rithmic.com:443 for request ID:3 (1) | Socket gracefully closed by remote side.
2024-02-08 13:34:39.484 | HTTPS connection ID:3 to www.rithmic.com:443 for request ID:3 (1) | Socket gracefully closed by remote side.
2024-02-08 13:34:39.485 | HTTPS connection ID:3 to www.rithmic.com:443 for request ID:3 (1) | CloseSocket call.
2024-02-08 13:34:39.485 | HTTPS connection ID:3 to www.rithmic.com:443 for request ID:3 (1) | Graceful close received or receive error. Shutdown complete. Closing socket now.
2024-02-08 13:34:39.485 | HTTPS connection ID:3 to www.rithmic.com:443 for request ID:3 (1) | Closed.

The timestamps looks like the request might have gotten there but since Rithmic are not seeing the request they would also not be closing the request either. I feel like the troubleshooting done with the Apex support agent did exhaust the scenarios we could try to have this connect or even just for a connection request to be seen on Rithmic.

Can you please offer me some assistance.

Thank you.

The Rithmic agent was incorrect in their statements. The information is getting to Rithmic and Rithmic is issuing the "Permission Denied" error. It is not a matter of not connecting.

Also, keep in mind that the connection type that Rithmic uses with Sierra Chart is different from any other connection type, and Rithmic wrote the program for the connectivity. But we do not think their support people understand this.

Anyway, for a Connection Denied error, most of what we know to try is at the following link:
Rithmic Trading Platform Service: Permission Denied Resolution Procedure

There is one other option, and since it looks like you are getting the data from us, this may not be an issue for you to try. This is to remove the entries in "Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Main Settings" for the "Market Data" and "Historical Data" entries (i.e. remove the Username and Password you have entered in those fields).

Hi John,

Thanks for the response. I have read that link and I have tried without Market Data and Historical Data. Same issue. You have mentioned that the connection is being sent, if that is the case then I suspect that you are evaluating the email address is the same as the one stored on SierraChart. In my case they are different. I had used a hotmail address on SierraChart and a gmail address on Apex.
I ran into this issue when i tried to connect to an AMP account and I ended up updating my email on SierraChart and then it connected. Can you please confirm if this would be a reason for the error I am seeing?

If its not then I really do seem to be stuck unless you have logs that provide more detail for the denial error message.

Thanks

James

No not at all:

There is no connection whatsoever between an email address on your Sierra Chart account, despite any coincidences you might have seen, and connecting to an external service. We have no control over connecting to external services.

You were correct about the email making no difference, although it was the case with AMP. Anyway, so I am stuck with this. You must be logging the HTTP calls with Rithmic. Is there any chance we can have a 10 min call where we make the connection and you trace those HTTP requests? Perhaps there is something not being sent correctly or maybe some additional information in the response that might give more indication of the issue. I really have been through your docs, I have compared with another user that can successfully connect. There really is nothing obvious that I have missed in this setup.

The interface that Rithmic uses to Sierra Chart was created by Rithmic. This is their issue, and we have made them aware of it.

I have contacted Rithmic and they have checked their logs and they can see that you are sending my user id with a underscore prefix which is why its failing. I have attached an image of this and blanked out anything personal since you make all the threads public.
Please can you check why this would be sent differently to how I have entered it? Thank you

We have to contact Rithmic about this. Does not make sense to us why there is an _ in front of the username.

We do not need any further information right now. We have contacted Rithmic directly about this.

In Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings, right-click on every username field and select Select All and then press the Delete key to delete what is there. And hand type do not copy and paste but hand type the username.

That has now connected successfully. Thank you. I wonder if in a future release the UI could show any exact value stored in the database as on the UI it looked perfectly ok. I assume its stripping on the UI. I have a feeling at one point I did type into the Trading Username but then copied from there into Market Data username.
This time around I manually typed in each box and it was ok.
Thank you again, I look forward to using SC now.

The particular user interface component, which is an Edit box from the operating system is part of the Windows operating system. It is not controlled by us.

This is a Rithmic issue, and not something we can help with. Our only suggestion is to try a different server and see if that helps.

Hi guys,

For information I found out what my problems was. I'm using Apex with teton order routing, with Apex through rithmic trading.

I followed this video but found out there was a problem about one step. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3NhJ2KGbrQ&list=PLs1uLXpFat_u1TunuBjMnx6Y-P2OG6VPL&index=3

SCROLL DOWN TO THE APEX in server list after you have selected Rithmic direct DTC. This fixed my problem. I also hand written password and username.
