I performed the steps in "Retrying the Download When There is Data in the Chart" ending with "Delete and Download Data".
The chart deleted all bars and now contains only the bars starting from the moment after the "Delete and Download Data" was selected.

Select Edit>>Cancel All Downloads.

After about a minute provide a copy of the Message Log following these instructions:

We will then determine what the problem is.

I performed the steps above. There are no bars on the HG charts, and no new bars are incoming.
I sent the Message Log by using the Send for Analysis button, this is to let you know on the Support Board that I have sent it this way at the time I sent it.

You are not using the correct symbol.


The this is the actual symbol:
HG-202212-NYMEX

This is a COMEX symbol and the exchange has to change to COMEX:

HG-202212-COMEX

When I followed the instructions under "Changing the Symbol of a Chart or Trade DOM Through Chart Settings"
the message box that is pictured in the Sierra documentation is different from the window displayed in response to "Select Chart >> Chart Settings on the menu."

On the window that was displayed by the above command, was titled: Chart Settings | "HG-202212-nymex" ...[*Symbol] The drop down menu presents a prompt to "Enter search text".
I entered HG-202212-comex, Apply All. The window disappeared, no response.
I entered HG-202212-comex, Enter. The window disappeared, no response.

next:
When I enter the term - "HG-202212-comex" - while following the instructions under "Quickly Changing the Symbol of a Chart to a New Symbol for which a Data File - Does Not Exist"
No bars appeared. No error message was returned.

When I enter the term - "HG-202212-comex" - while following the instructions to under "Quickly Changing the Symbol of a Chart to a Symbol for which a Data File - Exists"
"Symbol settings not found for current service" was returned.

When I enter the term - "HG-202212-nymex" - while following the instructions to under "Quickly Changing the Symbol of a Chart to a Symbol for which a Data File - Exists"
No bars appeared. No error message was returned.

(On a side note)
If I enter "File > Find Symbol" the find symbol window presents Available Symbols as
Futures - COMEX, underneath which a column of contracts is displayed that includes:

Here's another case that may shed light on the no backfill situation from a different angle.
In this case the correct symbol name *is used but produces the same result...a blank chart with no backfill activity.

For completeness the entire situation is outlined same as the first post in this thread.
The only difference being that the particular contract is EUR instead of HG.

Denali Data - Following up on Sierra Documentation suggestion to
"Check with your Data or Trading services provider and make sure your Data/Trading account is authorized for streaming real-time data for the particular exchange the symbol trades on. For additional information, refer to Symbol Not Authorized On Data/Trading Service Account.

One reason you receive a Symbol is Unknown message on the chart for a symbol is because the particular symbol is not authorized on the Data or Trading services account you are using Sierra Chart with. You will need to contact your Data or Trading service provider and tell them particular symbols you want to have authorized on your account.
This is especially true with CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange) symbols because the CME has begun to charge exchange fees for their market data for all users, effective as of 2015-01-01.

We apologize. We should have double checked. This symbol has not yet changed to COMEX but it is pending from Interactive Brokers:
HG-######-NYMEX

It still uses NYMEX.

So the symbol is correct.

And COMEX data, does come from the Denali data feed which you are using.

This is the problem:
Allow Support for Sierra Chart Data Feeds is disabled.

You need to set that setting to Yes:
Data/Trade Service Settings: Allow Support for Sierra Chart Data Feeds (Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Common Other Settings)

Then re-download the data in the chart.

Re-download all the data in the chart by going to the chart and selecting "Edit >> Delete All Data and Download". You just need to do this once per symbol and not for each chart.
