Please see my previous support request of today for a related support ticket and details of my set up. The new symbol that causes SC to freeze up when using number bars is once again the Indian Rupee. This future is offered by SC's preferred futures exchange, CME: SIR-202212-CME. SC complains of "symbol settings not found for current service" before freezing up.

Please acknowledge receipt of this email. I do hope I am not abusing your time by calling your attention to these failures by SC to handle error conditions gracefully.

Thank you.

There is no error condition here.

Most likely you have the Volume by Price study on the chart and the Tick Size is too small. Refer to:

High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.23 - Chart Tick Size and Volume at Price Processing

So before using that study or any other volume at price related studies, you need to make sure the Tick Size and Value/Price Format are set correctly.

Thank you for your reply. I'm not able to get SC to display a simple 15 minute bar chart for SIRZ22_FUT_CME, much less a number bar. SC complains of "symbol settings not found for current service". The tick data (0.01) is correct for the symbol, BTW.

Mind you, this is using SC/Win10/Teton/Denali/Ironbeam. I know how you little you folks think of Interactive Brokers, but this is *your* software, *your* preferred exchange and *your* data feed failing to perform per spec here. Ironbeam confirms that SIR is one of their supported futures.

I would respectfully request that you reconsider your tick hypothesis in light of this new information and dig a little deeper.

This is absolutely a Tick Size issue if Sierra Chart is having to do a lot of volume at processing based upon the current setting. That is 100% certain. And the symbol settings are not set up for that contract.

Sometimes you just have to increase to Tick Size or the Volume at Price Multiplier higher than the defaults based upon the market data if there are wide ranges of prices and a small tick size relative to that.

Teton order routing does not support that symbol and it is not plan to be added. Actually, there is no market data support, in the Denali Data Feed for this symbol. Never has existed.

Thank you for your reply. I am aware of the workaround for SC's tick bug from reading the documentation on number bars.

Ironbeam claims they support the SIR contract despite it not being listed in their in-house trading software. Does this happen in your experience that Denali and the Clearing house don't always support the same set of CME products?

It seems likely at this point that data for SIR was coming from IBKR. I will look for the absence of the "M" in the title bar the next time I use my IBKR/SC instance.

Please explain what the error message "symbol settings not found for current service" means and why this isn't evidence of missing configuration data in SC? It certainly doesn't sound to me like this error message has anything to do with tick size.

I take SC at its word that its integration with IBKR is top notch engineering and that any failures are probably IBKR's fault. Right now, though, I ask you to consider the possibility that SC may have failed to properly configure two IBKR symbols, namely SGX's IU and CME's SIR.

Your thoughts?

These two symbols are definitely not configured on the Sierra Chart side and the tick size that will be set will be incorrect.

Yes absolutely this is true.

Data for these is definitely coming from Interactive Brokers are not Sierra Chart or our Denali Data Feed in any way:
SGX's IU and CME's SIR.
