Hiya. I had to reset my connection to my modem because my broadband service stopped working. Since restarting my PC the Login window for Sierra Chart gets to "Verifying" and then just hangs and stops responding. I'm not sure if it's something to do with the connection going down earlier and maybe it's confused about whether I'm logged in or something? Either way this has never happened before and I'm not sure what to try to resolve it. I use IQ Feed if that makes any difference. Pls help! Thanks |

This means a firewall is blocking the connection. Refer to the Login Problems section here: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/LoginInstructions.php#LoginProblems Or do you mean the login window is freezing and is not responsive? Are you able to press the Cancel button? After you see Verifying for about 30 seconds, you will get a error message indicating there was a timeout if no connection to the server was possible. Once the window reached the Verifying stage the whole window went unresponsive and when clicking on it - it just whited out and then 'Windows' offered to close down the program for not responding. Do you think this is still indicative of the firewall issue as my firewall hasn't changed. Thanks for the quick reply, I really appreciate it.

We are doing some additional checking on this. Do you notice any problems using Internet Explorer on your computer? Make sure it is not set to Work Off-line. A problem like this is very unusual and it has been about 8 years since we have heard of someone else seeing this. To our knowledge only one person has seen something like this and almost certainly it was due to firewall software on their system. If you are running any third-party firewall software on the system, then we recommend completely disabling it and restarting your computer into safe mode to do a test. Internet explorer was functioning fine at the time but this problem did immediately follow my connection going down and me having to reconnect to the router and set up my router settings in my browser following the reset. Everything was back to normal except SC. After another two restarts of the PC Sierra is functioning perfectly again. I'm sure it's all connected somehow but I'm not sure how. As you say it's possible that my firewall (microsoft security essentials) got confused what with all the different connections as I tried to use my mobile phone as a hotspot after the broadband went down. |

Based upon the description, it sounds as though this is some kind of rare bug that exists within the Internet Explorer/Windows Internet functions. Therefore, not related to a third-party firewall. Although not completely certain. Certainly the issue does lie outside of Sierra Chart. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users.
