Hello

I have added a usage credit monthly over the last 3 months and paid for it by using my Visa through PayPal.

My bank account (Bank of America) has been assessed 3 International Transaction Fees associated with my adding the 3 usage credits.

Both Bank of America and PayPal tell me they are not charging me these fees, and to contact the merchant for additional information.

Can you provide any information related to these fees?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Warmest Regards

Andy

To avoid these fees use the Authorize.net payment option which is here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/UserControlPanel.php?page=AddAccountCredit

Those are cross-border fees billed by Visa and MasterCard. We use a PayPal account which is not in the US.

Thank you for the clarification.

The "cross-border" International Transaction Fees are in addition to the USD Payments 1% fee disclosed in the Pay With PayPal section. For me, the International Transaction Fees are 3%. 4% is a lot for payment fees.

It would be beneficial to all, especially in the USA, if we were made aware of these "cross-border fees" in advance of selecting PayPal as a payment option.

In the interest of transparency, would it be possible to disclose this hidden detail in the PayPal payment part of the AddAccountCredit page?

Thank you again for your support.

Warmest Regards

Andy

We do not know what these fees are going to be. These fees if anything, will be charged by your bank despite what they are saying. There is no way we could ever post a percentage and we would not.

And there are some customers, who will have a fee when using Authorize.net depending upon their location.

Both Bank of America and PayPal tell me they are not charging me these fees,
This is not true in the case of your bank. They are but they are just simply passing a fee on that they are getting and also marking it up about 3% according to what you're saying. But some banks will just absorb it. Our understanding is Visa would charge 1% and the banks will mark it up further. We don't think they are being honest with you.

And depending upon where someone is located, they will not pay a cross-border fee when using PayPal like if they are in an Asian region like Singapore.

I too believe BOA and PayPal were not being honest with me and that is just wrong.

I also believe I incurred the cross-border fees because SierraChart's PayPal account is not in the US. Why an American company such as SierraChart uses a foreign PayPal account does not make sense to me, but I am sure you have your reasons.

While I understand you do not know what the cross-border fees could possible be, and cannot post a percentage, I do believe you can post a generic statement that would alert your customers "additional cross-border fees may be incurred if using PayPal" (or something to that affect) so they can make an informed decision in advance of pressing "Enter".

Thank you again for your support.

Sierra Chart does not operate as a US company.

We will look into putting a notice, that cross-border fees may apply and that would be the case with any of the payment options depending upon your location.

Note that for clients that buy 12 months of Sierra Chart usage, the discount today is 34%, we don't know of anyone that offers such a large discount, or anything close to it, and it really renders irrelevant any issues with cross-border fees or international fees. Wouldn't you agree that that is really all there is to say here.

Hi Ray

Thank you for your reply.

The bottom of the About Us page shows the following address for Sierra Chart:

30 N. Gould St.
Suite #4119
Sheridan, WY, 82801
USA

Based on that address I presumed Sierra Chart was a US company. Apparently I was wrong. Would you mind sharing which country Sierra Chart is based?

Thank you for considering applying a notice concerning cross-border fees may apply and that would be the case with any of the payment options depending upon your location.

I am aware of your pricing and discount structure and in my opinion has nothing to do with cross-border or international fees issue I experienced. What I was simply seeking was full disclosure of payment related fees in advance of pressing the Enter key as we are accustomed to here in the US.

I am a PayPal customer and have never incurred a cross-border or international payment fee because I exclusively do business with US merchants that have US PayPal and US bank accounts. If I had known Sierra Chart was a non-US company with foreign financial banking relationships, I would have understood the cross-border or international payment fees when I reconciled my checking account.

Thank you for clarifying everything for me and for your support.

Warmest Regards

Andy
