Hi - I can't connect to the Rithmic server. I am using Rithmic - 01, and the correct account name and password. I have contacted the Trader Application Group at my broker, and they don't see any attempts to log in. Please advise. Thank you. |

Also, be advised - my firewall has been turned off, I've restarted the computer, and all my agreements w/ Rithmic are current. I have also logged into RTrader both demo and live and logged off, etc. The broker says it's a Sierra Chart problem, but I tend to believe it is on the broker end.

I've contacted ADMIS (the broker side) again, and they still insist it is a Sierra Chart problem. All I know is I just purchased this software for 12 months, and I have missed half a day of trading. I have followed the instructions on the Rithmic setup page, and I've searched the forum for similar issues, which all tend to conclude it is the broker. Please help with this issue.

I contacted Rithmic support via phone, and was told that the reason R|Trader works on Vista and XP, is because they have no way of knowing what operating system a user has. They have just officially discontinued support. I had explained that I didn't realize this in purchasing Sierra Chart, as I would have to buy new o/s for 3 machines now, to use Sierra Chart between desktops and laptops when I travel. They have no way to provide a workaround, as it has nothing to do with Rithmic, which is evidenced by being able to connect to Rithmic data on the same machine that Sierra Chart will not connect from. Please help, I really didn't plan on buying 3 new O/S from Micro$oft. Is there something that can be toggled here? Thank you |

It has everything to do with Rithmic and whoever you spoke with there is not aware of the technical problem. They should be fully well aware that their latest C++ API simply does not work on Windows Vista due to interacting with a function which does not exist. We know what we are talking about and we are more qualified to explain this than a non-technical person at Rithmic. And you can actually validate this yourself by going to the C:\SierraChart\Rim folder and running the program DTCBridge.exe. You will immediately see an error indicating a missing function in a particular DLL. Tell us what that error message is. If you do not see the error message, then let us know what you do see if anything. If you want a refund, let us know. But we really think it is best if you use CQG because the integration to CQG is technically better. We can put you in contact with a couple of brokers who support CQG if your current one does not. We think we may have a temporary solution for you. Follow the instructions here and install version 1480 https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/download.php#Rollback It could be that the updated C++ Rithmic API that Sierra Chart is using has the compatibility problem with Vista even though they say they do not support anything earlier than Windows 7. 1480 does not use the newest API from Rithmic. So the problem may be solved this by using 1480 or earlier. Let us know if that works. This at least will get you working for now. However, it is in your interest, to update some of your systems to Windows 7 or later. This is good to do regardless of this issue. Hi - I just saw this message about 2:15 pm ET today. The notifications have been going into my spam folder in Hotmail, hopefully I have fixed this permanently by adding you to Contacts. I actually ordered Win 7 today, just prior to discovering this fix, so I will be upgrading this machine within a few days; however, I went ahead and tried this solution, and it works! Thank you! In this post, it says the problem may be solved by using 1480 or earlier; however, on the rollback instructions, it mentions version 1408. I tried 1408, thinking perhaps there was a typo, and it was not able to install. 1408 is also not listed. So I tried 1480 as you stated and it worked perfectly. Perhaps there is no typo, it was just a coincidence they were similar numbers. I have not been able to use or even set up Sierra Charts yet, so a little extension would be much appreciated!!! |
