Update 2025-03-12: Sierra Chart has a new method to receive mobile notifications for alerts from Sierra Chart and also for chat messages. This is fully documented here: Chat and Communications Platform: Integration with Mobile Ntfy Application ----- Previous message from 2025-01-18: We are noticing that messages that get forwarded to Telegram from the Sierra Chart Chat, which you may be using to log and transmit alerts to a mobile device, have an increasing larger amount of them, which are just not getting delivered to Telegram. This is due to errors that the Telegram server is returning, which we think is indicating we are encountering perhaps a rate limit. There are also connectivity issues to the Telegram server. At this point in time, Telegram alerts are simply unreliable and should no longer be used. You will need to use our new web-based chat: Chat and Communications Platform: Web-Based/Mobile Chat Application And we are enhancing this chat to be able to send messages, and make it easier to use on a mobile device. There were problems with the Sierra Chart web-based chat earlier today, and probably the last couple of days. We were unaware of this. It is related to development we are doing. This coming week, we are going to be shutting down Telegram notifications permanently, and we will be adding support for this new application: https://ntfy.sh/ This will be 100% reliable because the server for this is under our control. This application is fully hosted by us and does not use any server not under our control. This allows you to get alerts directly onto the home screen of a mobile phone. The new Sierra Chart mobile app notification service is now functional. Telegram notifications are now permanently disabled. Install this app either on your iOS or Android mobile device: https://ntfy.sh/ We will be working on full documentation today. We do acknowledge, the configuration is a little complicated and that will be greatly simplified. ntfy is open source and we plan to modify that to customize it to exactly what we need for Sierra Chart notifications. There are not going to be any reliability problems, or delivery failure issues. All of this is under our control. This is open source software and we run the software on one of our servers, for the server side of it. The interface, of this notification software is easy, and very nice. It works very very well. This thread is now unlocked. If you need help with set up let us know and please provide feedback with how this works. It is going to be much better than Telegram because it is 100% reliable now. We are aware some users are having problem with the Ntfy app, running on iOS where you have to manually refresh to get notification. We are working on a solution to that. After following the instruction and setting up the new app I am not receiving the push test notifications from SC. I do receive the alerts on the app but I have to manually go refresh and look for them.

It sounds like you setup the User account correctly but not the subscription to that account. Go through Steps 22 through 27 and make sure you have a subscription properly setup (double check the server for that subscription as well). If the above is set correctly and you are not getting any notifications on your device, then you would need to ensure that you have setup notifications properly for the nfty app for your device. One of our developers said that we should provide Support Board notifications, ticket notifications, other account notifications (like related to payments) through this notification application. We can also provide a new version notices as well and really thinking about it there are all kinds of communication that we can send through that would be useful which goes by email and/or tickets, or is not notified about for example new versions. So there is a lot of things we can add here. For example, there are all kinds of communication that clearing firms get for Teton order routing which could go directly through the chat direct straight to the risk managers, without using email. When using the ntfy app, if you do not receive automatic updates and have to do a manual refresh by pulling down the screen that shows the list of messages, then go back to the main home screen of the ntfy app, that shows the notification topic you are subscribed to. See if it says "reconnecting" underneath. If so, that is the reason automatic updates are not occurring. We have seen this. Next time it occurs we will troubleshoot why this is happening. Regarding the problem of not receiving automatic updates in the ntfy app, check the main homepage of the ntfy app and if you see "Reconnecting" from time to time, go to … >> Settings>> Connection protocol >> JSON stream over HTTP. This does not appear to be a problem at the server level, but rather some unknown issue within the ntfy app or the phone operating system.
