"Hanging Orders" on Rithmic and Automated Solutions to Flatten

Hello,

I am currently running an automated trading system and using the Rithmic data connection, I routinely have the experience that after a position is closed, either one of the working orders (ie TP or SL) is left active on the chart, even though the position is flat. I have the spreadsheet trading system set to "cancel all working orders on exit" but for whatever reason (I imagine specific to Rithmic) an order remains active.

My question is, is there an automated way to send a flatten signal to the system in this situation to clear out the "hanging order"? I tried using the Buy/Sell Exit function on spreadsheets, but that doesn't seem to be sending the right signal - only manually hitting my "flatten" hotkey seems to do the trick - any suggestions for how to send an automated flatten order when there are working orders present but no current position would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks -

This may be a Rithmic issue where the order command to cancel is not getting followed or there is no cancellation acknowledgment.

You need to examine the Trade Activity Log and see if the orders are actually getting canceled:

We do not know exactly what is happening.

Understood - the error I am getting both in the Trade Activity Log and Trade Service log is:

"Order modification failed | Rithmic Direct - DTC (Order cancel/replace reject)"

See attached image below for the full sequence - thank you.

Understood - attached is the Trade Activity Log data file from 06/03/24.

The symbol is MNQM4.CME
The account is APEX-75340-22

The order error in question happened several times during this session:

15:30:46 - internal order ID 37240
18:14:53 - internal order ID 37280

The timezone on the chartbook is CEST (UTC+2)

I use an automated trading system that executes market orders with an OCO bracket order from the trade configuration window; in my experience, when trading on the Rithmic data connection, in about 1-in-5 to 1-in-10 trades, when the TP limit order is hit/filled, the chart temporarily shows the position as closed and the OCO brackets disappear; but then a second or two later the stop-loss order re-appears on the screen (which I assume is a result of the order modification error). Sometimes I see this immediately, sometimes I only see it some time after the fact - there is no position on, but there is a still a working stop-order left over from the position. The only way I can get rid of this order is to hit flatten several times manually, and eventually, usually within 10-30 seconds, the remaining order flattens properly.

Please let me know if you need any more information from me - thank you very much.

We would recommend reconnecting in this case with File >> Reconnect.

What happened is there was an order modification at the same time Rithmic canceled the order and then when Rithmic indicated there is a rejection, it provided the status as Open:
