Hello Support,

I have a problem with connection issues with IB Gateway. At the moment, IB Gateway is connected successfully, however when I leave Sierra Charts and IB Gateway open overnight, it loses connection and doesn't update the chart.

I asked Interactive Brokers and this is what they said:

"Note that our servers are restarted once a day. During the restart process you should expect a brief interruption of the connectivity during which you will not be able to interact with our platform. After the restart however, the IB Gateway's connection will be immediately resumed and all client applications connected to it should be able to operate normally.

It is possible your client application is not recovering and/or handling the IB Gateway's messages properly. Please contact Sierra Charts' provider as we are unfortunately unable to support third party software."

Can you guys let know if there is any settings I need to do on my side.

This also happens with TWS. Please note, the AutoLogg off is set at 12pm my time. I have attached the Log for this.

There are no messages in this log at 12 PM. Assuming the Time Zone in Sierra Chart is set to "my time".

Basically you just need to have enabled Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Reconnect on Failure.

And make sure you set up a trusted IP address in TWS. Refer to the IB set up instructions here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/IB.php#SetupInstructions

This is all that is needed for Sierra Chart to reconnect automatically. We see no reason why there would be a problem if the above is done.

I have that enabled. But when IB does the daily server restart, the charts don't update. For example, I've tried to re-download the data for NZD.JPY and it just says download fail?? Even though all the other charts are showing prices.

This is what happens when IB restarts its servers. Please see the log

The problem is you have the letter case of the NZD.JPY symbol incorrect. Follow the procedure here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ChartDataFiles.html#CorrectingSymbolLetterCase

The characters must be all uppercase for this particular symbol.

The symbols are all uppercase. But whenever the data feed gets disconnected from IB, it turns some of the symbols to lowercase, thus not updating the charts. Even though the 'Reconnect on Failure' is checked, I have to disconnect and re-connect to the IB numerous times in-order for it to update realtime.

Follow the procedure we gave. It has been written today, and it explains what you need to do. Somewhere either with the Intraday data filename or among the charts you have lowercase characters somewhere. There can be no doubt about that.
