Charts stopped working - this happened once before

All my futures charts stopped updating last Thursday. I see a red error message saying historical chart download failed because of an invalid symbol, but the error message disappears from the screen before I can get a screen grab. This happened once recently, where my charts stopped working because of some internal glitch. You were able to fix it promptly last time soon as I reported it. I vaguely remember the solution had to do with my market data settings. I have it set to "SC Data - All Services". It used to be set for SC Order Routing service but I think you changed it for some reason. The format of the symbols that are failing are GCM23_FUT_COMEX and CLK23_FUT_NYMEX. These normally work fine with my Denali data feed. But if I try Find Symbol now it shows me a different format like CLK23-NYMEX. I think I am supposed to choose something other than "SC Data - All Services" in Global Settings but I'm not sure what. Thanks in advance for your help. |

Translate the symbols with Edit >> Translate Symbols to Current Service.

Hi Guys, I'd like to re-open this ticket. Edit>>Translate Symbols to Current Service doesn't solve my problem because I make extensive use of ADD_SYMBOL studies in my charts, and the translate to current service function does not appear to update symbols stored in ADD_SYMBOL studies. Specifically, I make extensive use of "Symbol Studies" where the symbol is for an exchange-traded futures spread, such as CLZ23-CLM24.CL.FUT_SPREAD.NYMEX. Manually updating all the symbols by hand would literally take over a week, as I have many charts with dozens of studies on them. So what I need from SC is EITHER: 1) A way to switch my entire environment back to the old symbol format so my symbol studies work; or 2) An upgrade to Translate Symbols to Current Service so that it updates symbols stored inside Add Symbol studies when it updates everything else; or 3) Some other workaround so I can get my charts working without having to spend days manually updating all the add symbol studies. THANKS in advance!!! Erik |

1. Symbols like these are related to TT-based order routing and are no longer supported: CLZ23-CLM24.CL.FUT_SPREAD.NYMEX You need to change to the new format used by SC Data-All Services which would be: CLZ23-CLM24.FUT_SPREAD.NYMEX 2. This is already supported but the issue relates to no translation patterns for spreads but we can give it a try to set this up for CL. There are still manual changes you may need to make. >2. This is already supported but the issue relates to no translation patterns for spreads but we can give it a try to set this up for CL. Ok, great! Just to be clear we're on the same page, I interpret the above to mean that you will be upgrading Edit>>Translate Symbols to Current Service so that a future version at least partially translates symbols stored in additional symbol studies, but I should expect to still need to make a few manual changes to clean things up. Please let me know when I should take another stab at this with Edit>>Translate Symbols, after downloading and installing the latest SC. Thanks again!!! Erik |

SANITY CHECK - My understanding from your last post 8 days ago is that you will be upgrading Edit>>Translate Symbols to Current Service so that it correctly updates CL spread symbols that are contained inside AddAdditionalSymbol studies, and I am waiting for you to reply when that new version is available. My charts are still not working and won't be until I find a solution to the symbol format problem. I just wanted to make sure we're on the same page because I never thought to ask what the timeframe would be for this upgrade. If it's going to be multiple weeks, I should probably start manually updating the few charts I most urgently need to use. That will be a big job but I need the charts working in a reasonable timeframe. In the week this is pending I could have manually updated a couple of charts, but I haven't started because my understanding is you are about to give me a new version that automates this. Please let me know whether this is close to ready, and if not I'll start tackling it manually in my primary charts. Thanks guys! |

We really recommend that you manually change the symbols. We are not sure when we can get to this.

Ok, thanks. I understand that I'm probably the only user with this particular need. If you do get to this at some point, it will make my life a lot easier. There's no way I can manually update all my charts. They took years to create. But I'll start manually updating my most important charts. Thanks again guys! |

We were able to successfully support this for CL spreads from TT formatted spreads. Follow the instructions here to update the Symbol Settings: Global Symbol Settings: Update Global Symbol Settings After that translate the symbols with this Edit menu command: Edit Menu: Edit >> Translate Symbols To Current Service Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
