Chartbook file is not compatible

Hello, I use 14 chartbooks. Yesterday one of them failed to open with this message: "The Chartbook file is not compatible. Contact Sierra Chart for help with converting it."

Now today, another chartbook has the same issue, I cannot open it because it is "not compatible". All 14 chartbooks were created at the same time so I'm confused why this issue is happening only to some and not all. And unsure why it should happen yesterday and now again today.

The instructions here (Chartbooks (Workspaces): Opening Older Chartbooks) are not applicable because the chartbooks are less than 1 year old.

I have the latest version of Sierra Chart (2691 installed today, AFTER these issues started). I've restarted my computer. I have tried the chartbooks in a second instance of SC but this didn't solve the issue. I also created a duplicate of the chartbooks to see if they would open but no success.

What is the cause of the problem? How do I fix it? How do I prevent it happening to my other 12 chartbooks?

It sounds like the chartbooks got corrupted for some reason. The main thing we would suggest checking is that you have enough drive space and that you are not out of space.

Also, please attach one of the chartbooks that is not working so we can take a look and see. Follow these instructions to attach the chartbook:

We recommend restoring the bad chartbooks from the backups that are made. Refer to the following:

Thanks for this. The backup solution works. Today a 3rd chartbook has had the same problem. I know I can recover it back by doing the backup solution, but my question is why does this keep happening?

It should not be occurring. The only thing we can think is what we mentioned previously, that perhaps you are out of drive space, so when it is trying to write the update the chartbook that is causing an issue.

Another possibility is that you are sharing that chartbook with another instance. Sierra Chart is not setup to support this. Every instance needs to have its own 'Data' folder.

And in combination with the above, another possibility is if you have the 'Data' folder being shared, or in a backup location, such as "Microsoft OneDrive". This should also not be used, as the backups can block the writing of data to that area and create problems.
