My understanding from research is the NASDAQ Total View data feed includes all NYSE stocks. I was looking for GEO (Geo Group Inc) which is a NYSE traded stock. Looking under NASDAQ TotalView in the symbol lookup GEO is not included. It's pretty clear from scrolling through the list view does not include all 1977 stocks listed on the NYSE. Am I incorrect in my understanding that NQ TotalView includes all NYSE stocks? Am I looking in the wrong place for GEO?

Even if you do not see it listed you can use it. The symbol will be GEO-NQTV All NYSE stocks are included with NASDAQ TotalView. Is there anywhere that the matching algo is described? I'd like to understand why typing GEO causes sierra to find GER30. Even if I type GEO-NQTV and hit enter, I end up with GER30. I've tried with other symbols as well and it's just not making sense to me... |

We are not sure what you are referring to in terms of a "matching algo". Are you doing a Search on the Find Symbol window? If you are having an issue when trying to open a symbol in the Find Symbol window, then it sounds like you are not typing the information in the proper location. Make sure you enter the symbol in the field for "Selected Symbol". Whatever you type in to that field is what is used to open a chart. I tend to just type into the chart - the text I type appears in the Window title and then I hit enter and it usually takes me to the symbol. However, it doesn't work as well as tradingview. Their interface lets you also just type a symbol, but they instantly popup a window and start searching for you and give you a way to select brokers and instrument types (futures/forex/stocks) in order to quickly limit your list. They don't support options like SierraChart, but maybe some day. I am aware I can go digging into the menu system and open a find window, but I'm used to apps that make typing a first class entry to finding and searching for anything. i.e. if I type go, it would bring up things like Goto Time from the menu or any tickers such as Gold. I'm sure you guys know, like Google Chrome's Omnibar where you type anything and it starts working out what you want, could be a mathematical calculation, a document in your history, a bookmark, or a web search. So when I mean algo, I'm wondering what SierraChart is doing behind the scenes when I start typing into a chart window. I know if I type 144t and hit enter I get a tick chart. It's that type of functionality I want to see more of. Just type and have the system come back with ideas for me. Perhaps eventually I can put an API key in for GPT or Claude or something and it will be able to give me back suggestions for what I want to do (writing ACSIL, using spreadsheets, combining indicators, finding symbols, giving me lists of symbols and brokers that match my query, locating drawing tools, etc. Sorry my question wasn't clear. I have lots of these NQTV symbols that do not seem to work right. They assume I want something other than what I typed and as I mentioned above, are not even close, as if they are being limited somehow. |

When you have a chart active and type a symbol name directly (i.e. nothing special, such as AAPL-NQTV) the system is looking to open the data file for that symbol. If a data file does not exist, it finds the closest match alphabetically. If a data file does not already exist for a symbol, then you need to type in a slash first, then the rest of the symbol (such as /AAPL-NQTV). Refer to the information at the following link and the section below it: Changing the Symbol of a Chart: Quickly Changing the Symbol of a Chart to a Symbol for which a Data File Exists For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
