Dear SC Admin, I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to seek your assistance regarding an issue I am currently facing with my trading setup. As a trader primarily focused on US Equities, I utilize a combination of DAS for trade execution and Sierra Charts for marking levels, due to my familiarity and comfort with the latter's interface and functionalities. However, I have encountered a significant challenge that is impacting my trading efficiency. There appears to be a noticeable delay in the price data displayed on Sierra Charts when compared to the real-time prices on DAS. This discrepancy is concerning as it hinders my ability to make timely and informed trading decisions. To address this issue, I have already attempted to reduce the chart interval update on Sierra to 10 milliseconds. Unfortunately, this adjustment has not resolved the problem, and the lag in price data remains substantial. Given this situation, I am reaching out to inquire if there are specific settings or configurations that I might have overlooked, or if there are additional steps I can take to synchronize the data more effectively. Here are a few specific questions and considerations: 1. **Data Feed and Latency**: Is there a possibility that the data feed I am using for Sierra Charts is inherently slower, or could there be latency issues due to my current setup? 2. **Hardware and Network Considerations**: Could my hardware or network connection be contributing to this lag? If so, are there recommended specifications or upgrades that could mitigate this issue? 3. **Server Location**: I am also contemplating whether installing Sierra Charts on a different server, possibly one geographically closer to the data source, could improve the data latency. Would you recommend this, and if so, could you provide guidance on how to proceed? 4. **Alternative Solutions**: If there are any other solutions or best practices that you could suggest, I would greatly appreciate your insights. Understanding the critical nature of accurate and timely data in trading, I am eager to resolve this issue promptly. Your expertise and advice in this matter would be invaluable to me. Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your prompt response and any recommendations you can provide. Best regards, |

Follow these instructions here: Chart Trading and the Chart DOM: Improving Performance Of Chart / Trade DOM These instructions are also applicable in your case. Set this setting to 40: Sierra Chart Server Settings: Remote Buffer Delay Send Time In Milliseconds (Global Settings >> Sierra Chart Server Settings >> General >> General) How much of a delay are you noticing? Sierra Chart is delivering data directly from the exchange feeds. It is a very low latency service. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Dear SC Admin I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to extend my gratitude for your prompt response to my previous query. Your attention to customer concerns is greatly appreciated. However, I must express my ongoing concerns regarding the latency issues I've been experiencing. While I understand that certain delays can be expected in any trading environment, the current situation seems to be particularly problematic. I do not execute trades directly off of Sierra Charts, but the price discrepancy I'm noticing in fast-moving stocks is significant. There appears to be a delay of 1-2 seconds in price updates, which, as you can appreciate, is substantial in the context of a rapidly fluctuating market. This delay not only hampers my ability to make informed decisions but also poses a potential risk to my trading strategy, especially when dealing with high-volatility stocks. In such a fast-paced trading environment, even a split-second can make a considerable difference in the outcome of a trade. I am keen to understand more about the nature of this issue. Is this latency a temporary glitch, or is it an inherent limitation of the current system? Moreover, I would greatly appreciate any advice or solutions you could offer to mitigate this issue. Are there any settings adjustments or upgrades I could consider to enhance real-time price accuracy besides the ones highlighted above? Your expertise and assistance in this matter would be invaluable. I am hopeful that we can find a resolution that ensures a more accurate and timely reflection of market prices, thereby enabling me to trade with the confidence and efficiency I have come to associate with your services. Thank you once again for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response. Best regards, |

First we have to be sure where the data is coming from. We want you to set up a separate installation of Sierra Chart just for stock data: Using Multiple Data and Trading Services at the Same Time Make sure that installation is up-to-date: Software Download: Fast Update Set the Current Selected Service in that installation to "SC Data-All Services" If you really want very high-performance we would recommend no more than 5 or 10 charts per instance of Sierra Chart. For additional charts, you will want to use additional sub instances: Using DTC Server for Data and Trading in Another Sierra Chart Instance And do go through the information here because whether you are trading or not it is also applicable to maintain high-performance: Chart Trading and the Chart DOM: Improving Performance Of Chart / Trade DOM Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Subject: Inquiry on Setting Default Chart Timings for Overnight Sessions Dear SC Admin I hope this email finds you well. Thank you for the information you provided earlier; I'll be sure to check it out. I have another question regarding the chart settings in our trading platform. Currently, when I switch between different stock tickers, the chart timings automatically revert to the standard 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM session. However, for my analysis, I need to consistently view the overnight sessions. Could you guide me on how to set the default chart timings to cover an 18:00 to 17:59:59 session at a global level? This adjustment would greatly enhance my efficiency in monitoring and analyzing different stocks. Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to your guidance. Best regards, |

If you want to have the times for all stock charts to be the same, then you need to change the Symbol Setting for the "Global Settings >> Symbol Settings >> ?, ??, ???, ????, ?????, ??????, ??????? and set the Start Time and End Time to what you need. If you only need this for a few symbols, then you would need to copy the symbol settings from one of the above and modify it for the particular symbol. Subject: Clarification and Request for Adjustment in US Equities Trading Time Dear SC Admin, I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to seek clarification on a recent communication and to request a specific adjustment in our trading operations. Firstly, I received a message that contained the following sequence: "?", "??", "???", "????", "?????", "??????", "???????". I must admit, I am having difficulty understanding the meaning or the context of this sequence. Could you please provide some clarity or context regarding this message? It would be greatly appreciated, as I want to ensure that I am fully informed and responsive to any communications from my end. Secondly, I would like to change the time for every charge for every US Equity to 18:00:00 - 17:59:59. Thank you |

The "?", "??", "???", "????", "?????", "??????", "???????" are the actual symbols in the Symbol Settings. When you select "Global Settings >> Symbol Settings" if you click on the left side box (for symbols) and then type in a question mark (?) it will jump about half-way down the page to where these items are. You will see actual entries for ?, ??, ???, etc. These represent the stock symbols (all letters, hence question marks). Since you want to have all of your stocks having the same session times, start with the single question mark (?) and modify the settings for it to have the session times you want. Then move on to two question marks (??), then three (???), etc. Refer to the following for information on how to edit symbol settings: Global Symbol Settings: Instructions For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Do you display odd lots for equities (in chart settings) ? Not displaying them can give impression data is not streaming the same as DAS.

If you are looking at -NQTV symbols, these symbols are not going to update as fast as the consolidated tape feed. You need to use symbols without that suffix. For example SPY versus SPY-NQTV. Based on everything we are hearing, there definitely is not a problem. The Sierra Chart data feeds are very low latency feeds and working well. Looks like the issue is with the symbols you are using. You need to adjust this setting to control the Chart Update Interval globally: General Settings Window: Chart Update Interval (Global Settings >> General Settings >> General >> Update Intervals) However, when you control the Chart Update Interval globally, then for each chart, you need to make sure this is set to 0: Chart Settings: Chart Update Interval in Milliseconds (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Display >> Chart Update Interval menu) By default it will be 0 but check.
