I am using the TTnet data feed with my platform. My position in ZF is showing up as short 1. when you view the orders in my trade log, it shows that i am flat. I have confirmed with the trade desk at my brokerage house that I am in fact flat. I need help in trying to determine why i am showing a position in the platform, and what i can do to rectify it

I was on the telephone with AMP and on a remote assistance hookup with AMP when the original post for this thread was made. I'm off with AMP now and I want to recap what happened.

Using v1146 with AMP/TTNet and SC RT data, I shorted ZF from a TradeDOM. The short showed up as filled. After a few seconds, the short position disappeared from the DOM. I checked the Trade Activity Log and the Orders and Positions window and I was still short. I called the AMP Trade Desk and they placed a long market order to flatten me. They confirmed that I was flat. The trade that the AMP Trade Desk made then showed up in SC, but SC still shows me as being short. I closed all chartbooks, disconnected from data feed, and exited from SC. I reopened SC and SC is still showing me short 1 ZF.

When I try to Refresh Trade Data from the Orders And Positions window, I get a Trade Service Log message that 'AMP/TTNet: Trade positions request is outstanding. New request ignored. | 2014-06-16 10:06:41".

Over this past weekend I went through and renamed all CBOT symbols on my charts and DOMs from hyphen-CME to hyphen-CBOT and I set the Use CME Gateway for CBOT Symbols to TRUE in Data/Trade Service Settings. The trades I'm making through SC show up with the hyphen-CBOT symbol name. The trade that the AMP Trade Desk made for me shows up with a hyphen-CME symbol name.

Sunday evening I tried to do a Full Reset of symbols and I lost all the market data symbols. I had to recover the old symbols xml file.

I don't want trading with Sierra Chart to become dangerous because of platform problems. I like using Sierra Chart. Please help me.

We will be reviewing this, but we see reference to TT and in general you cannot always rely upon accurate position data from TT FIX adapters, no matter what anyone says. This is our experience.

in general you cannot always rely upon accurate position data from TT FIX adapters
I have edited the SC Trade Activity records by changing the symbol name of the trade that the AMP Trade Desk made from hyphen-CME to hyphen-CBOT. Now, SC shows me being flat. I was not allowed to edit the record for "Synchronized Internal Position to current Service Position". I received an error message that "Buy/Sell must be set to valid value", even though <blank> is indeed a valid value for that record.

In other words, the problem is that SC is mixing up symbol names with the TTNet data connection. Whether or not TT Fix adapters supply reliable position data is irrelevant. When SC mixes up symbol names, as you're doing, it is incumbent on SC to code the software to recognize the symbol names "ZF-201409-CME" and "ZF-201409-CBOT" as being the exact same contract.

Also, when I initiate a trade in a SC TradeDOM and the TradeDOM shows me as being short 1 contract; then, two seconds later the position information in the TradeDOM just goes POOF and disappears; then, there's something wrong with your software, and no amount of trying to blame that on the characteristics of TT FIX adapters in general is going to hold water.

We will be reviewing this
I need instructions from SC concerning what I should do in order to be able to trade reliably with SC.

I spent hours this past weekend following your instructions from the 1145 Release Notes about changing symbol names to hyphen-CBOT. Now I can't do a Full Reset of Symbol Settings, and my trades are going POOF from the TradeDOM. POOF is not acceptable.

After a few seconds, the short position disappeared from the DOM.
This is not normal. We are checking on this. It may have something to do with the CBOT suffix.

We have determined the problem. It is not related to the FIX adapter.

The problem is you have symbol settings for ZN using the CME exchange. You need to perform a Full Reset of the symbol settings following the instructions here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_GlobalSymbolSettings.php#FullResetSymbolSettingsSteps

You must perform a full reset of the symbol settings when you change the exchange portion of the symbols to CBOT. This is something we need to clearly explain. The change which requires you to use the CBOT exchange for CBOT symbols, is only part of the prerelease and we still have been thinking about how best to handle this to make the transition as easy as possible.

Also, when I initiate a trade in a SC TradeDOM and the TradeDOM shows me as being short 1 contract; then, two seconds later the position information in the TradeDOM just goes POOF and disappears; then, there's something wrong with your software
This is not necessarily true. There are many server-side problems that can cause this.

You must perform a full reset of the symbol settings when you change the exchange portion of the symbols to CBOT.
Before I made any changes I confirmed that both the CME and CBOT suffix symbol names were available in my Global Symbol Settings file.

As I noted in post #2 and post #5, I am having trouble performing a Full Reset of the symbol settings. When I press the "Full Reset" button on the Global Symbol Settings window, I receive a corrupted XML file. Attached are images showing that window before and after pressing the "Full Reset" button. The results are the same regardless of whether the "Overwrite Existing Settings . . ." box is checked or not. The results are the same regardless of whether I am connected to the Data Feed or not.

As you can see from the attached images, when I perform a Full Reset I lose all the market data symbols from $AXFI through $ZOC. I need some of those market data symbols for some of my charts. You can judge the size of the XML file from the size of the scroll bar button in the attached images.

I just now noticed that the corruption with all the question marks is already in the file before I perform a Full Reset. Before performing a Full Reset the question marks show up between the market data symbols and the futures symbols.

What can I do to get a full list of symbols with a Full Reset?

Here's a copy of the corrupted XML file I receive when I perform a Full Reset.

The only symbols in that file are futures symbols and question marks for general stock patterns.

The reason I use the word "corrupted" to describe the file is because of the question marks. Perhaps the question marks are supposed to be there. But there should certainly be more symbols in the file.

The problem with the symbol settings not including market statistics and index symbols has been resolved.

Perform a Full Reset of the symbol settings now.

we have implemented automatic conversion of the symbols that should have CBOT at the end, in version 1147.
