Hi there, I'm writing about a order fill error from sierra chart today. I shorted 1 contract of MNQ at 10:26 am EST,placing the order the same way I always do, but ended up getting filled 17 times, so I ended with 17 contracts instead, which results in a unintended loss of 240 dollars. That has never happened to me before. Could you please look into why the platform(I'm using version 2424) made the error, and give me a refund of the loss? Thank you!

You need to look at the Trade Activity Log to see why you ended up with 17 contracts. The information will be in there.

I have looked through my trade activity log and all the columns, it shows filled 1 contract repeatedly for 17 times, and none of the columns explains why...Please help me look into it, thanks!

On the Trade Activity tab of the Trade Activity Log look at one of the fills that increased the quantity and in particular the "OrderActionSource" field. We would need to know what exactly it states within that field.

It says " CQG order update. Status: FILL", the same as all my other filled orders that were not filled by error... What does that suggest? |

You need to take a look at the orders that generated the fills and see what information is available from those. Something created these extra orders, although we do not believe that it was anything that went wrong within Sierra Chart. Were you running any automated trading tools when this occurred? You need to take a look at the orders that generated the fills and see what information is available from those - could you be more specific please, I went through the trade log all of the columns and don't see anything, and besides orderactionsource field, where would it be? No I'm not, I'm just using the trading keyboard hotkey to buy ask and sell limit, and that i've been using them for a while, could that be the reason it caused the repetitive fills? |

That is what needs to be figured out. If a key got stuck, then it is possible that multiple orders got sent. On the Trade Activity Log on the Trade Activity Tab, you will want to show All Activity. Then look at the Orders that are occurring just before a Fill. In the OrderActionSource field you will see what the source of the order is. This is what you need to find. I've changed it to all activity and captured the columns just before the repetitive orders started, could you take a look and help me figure out why 17 orders was filled instead of intended 1? I sell on bid with a bracket order of 1 target and 1 stop. I've attached the file. Thanks!

The information is that these orders were entered via "User Order Entry". Which means the orders were placed manually. As we noted, if a key got stuck, or held down too long (and hence was repeating), then it is possible that multiple entries were sent. We can't say anymore on exactly what happened as we simply do not know, only that whatever mechanism you used to send the order was repeated.

If the order quantity was 1 that means you submitted 17 orders: help me figure out why 17 orders was filled instead of intended 1?

Maybe go to global settings>>symbol settings>>CHECK use global trade position limit>>then add 1 That will keep u from sending many orders to server when keyboard trading TEST THIS next part in SIM Before you change all of the above try holding down you keyboard trade buttons and see what happens(IN SIM). It will send orders as long as u hold down the keys. |
