Sub-instance does not have access to Rithmic account

Starting from this morning, I don't have access to my Rithmic account from sub-instance. Main instance is working fine, but sub-instance does not allow access to any account other than Sim1. Yesterday everything was working fine, and no changes were made since then. I updated Sierra to the latest version, but that didn't help.

I submitted the message log as requested. One more thing, I have noticed that as soon as I start the sub-instance, initially the trade window on the new instance shows the correct account number. But as soon as the sub-instance connects to the DTC server, the actual correct account switches to Sim1.

In the Sub-Instance, is the option for Trade >> Trade Simulation Mode On checked or not? It sounds like it is should have a checkmark by it, which would explain why you are not seeing your Rithmic information.

Trade Simulation mode is off. In fact I tried to switch it on and off, trade window color switches to blue and grey, but account stays on sim only. Also, I have SC installed on two computers, the described issue is showing on both computers.

If not already open, open the Trade Window by selecting Trade >> Open Trade Window for Chart. In the section where your Account is shown (it should say Sim1) select that menu and see if your Rithmic Trading Account is available for selection. If so, then select it. Refer to the information here:
Basic Trading and the Trade Window: Main/C >> Trade Account (Selecting Trade Account for Chart / Trade DOM)

Then refer to this setting to help automatically select your active trading account when using a Sub-Instance:

Sim1 is the only available option. When trade simulation mode is OFF, I see Sim1 only. When trade simulation mode is ON, I have two options which are the same: Sim1 and Sim1.

The issue is still unresolved. I'd like to emphasize that I've been using this configuration with sub-instances for a long time on two computers and never had any issues. No changes were done yesterday, everything was working correctly. Something happened overnight. Is it possible that Rithmic made some changes that affected how trading in sub-instances work?

The only conclusion as to the cause of the problem is the account was not available from Rithmic in the main instance.

I have a similar issue.

I'm running two installations on the same computer. #1 is Denali (charting & AMP), #2 is trading (Apex/Rithmic). However, when I open a sub-instance in the second install, it doesn't connect to Rithmic/Apex and the server connections box is read only. The account options in the trade window are sim and my Apex account. All the symbols available are not in the Rithmic format. I'm sure this was working before the recent SC update. Any ideas?

In the Sub-Instance you would have to update the symbols manually. So you will have to change each chart that is not the correct symbol to be the correct symbol.

The connection in the Sub-Instance is going to be whatever the Main Instance is connected to. The Sub-Instances (started by selecting "File >> New Instance") just pass the information through the main instance.

Hi John.... everything you said is what I believed to be the case too. However, the sub-instance of my Rithmic installation connects to AMP and not Apex/Rithmic. I have hit the Update Symbols button in the sub-instance but they don't load the Rithmic ones. If I just type a Rithmic symbol manually in Chart Settings, it will not load. Is there something I can send to you to check this out?

A couple of items in terms of nomenclature. When we say "Sub Instance" (or Sub-Instance), we are specifically referring to an instance that is started by selecting "File >> New Instance". We will typically refer to a separate installation (another Sierra Chart installed to another location on your hard drive) as an "Installation".

Given the above, you can not have a "Sub Instance" of your Rithmic installation that connects to AMP. The Sub-Instances always connect through the main Sierra Chart instance, therefore, however that main instance is setup is how the sub-instances are setup. If the main instance is connected to Rithmic, then the sub-instances will be using that same Rithmic information.

If you have a separate installation that connects to AMP, then how is that installation setup? Are you using CQG or Rithmic for the order routing for your AMP account?

Otherwise, what is your setup?

To answer your question, in my AMP account, I use CQG WebAPI [trading]

My setup is the same as stated on post #14 on this thread.

I have noticed something though - when I open install #1 (Denali/AMP) and then install #2 (Rithmic/Apex), any sub-instance of install #2 will not connect to Rithmic (symbol list will not populate) nor Apex.

However, if I just open install #2 only, this is not an issue. And sub-instances can look for Rithmic symbols. It also seems if I open the Rithmic based install and THEN the Denali install, there is also no issue.

Any ideas?

First, make sure your installations are on the most recent release, as there has been a change that requires the most recent release in order to connect to Rithmic.

Second, are these installations on the same computer, or on separate computers?

It sounds like they are on separate computers, and you are only setup to get data to one computer at at time. Refer to the following:
