I am unable to download any historical intraday data for currencies (e.g., since session close Wednesday, 03.19.14 at 1700ET) to this morning. I receive this error :

“Socket has been shutdown and closed. | 2014-03-20 07:23:53
The network socket for historical data has been closed. | 2014-03-20 07:23:53”

Also, realtime data for currencies is not updating either.

I thought a solution to the data formatting and downloading issue was going to be resolved overnight per post at :

Checking on this now. Unusual you would not have real-time data.

We did solve the data formatting problem.

Everything looks completely good from our side. We checked the 6E. What symbol are you having trouble with?

Go to the chart and select Edit >> Delete All Data and Download.

If you are not receiving real-time data, then refer to help topic 3 here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/helpdetails3.html

Also the log messages that you provided, do not indicate a problem. Those are normal.

All currency symbols, 6A, 6B, 6C, 6E, 6J. No realtime and I tried downloading using delete download and no historical. Never had this issue - even yesterday I was able to do delete and download - last time I checked was 1630ET and it worked.

Just tried on 6E again - despite stating "Real-time Intraday chart data file updates started for 6EM4 | 2014-03-20 11:51:15" I am not recieving any realtime data for these symbols - realtime and historical works fine for other symbols - ES, NQ, QM, GCL, ZN, ZF, ZB, DX-M

You did not do exactly what we said in the prior post:

Go to the chart and select Edit >> Delete All Data and Download.

Use this EXACT command. We have enough trouble, with all of these external service problems. Users need to follow our exact instructions.

The 6E and 6A should be fine. There might be a problem with the other symbols . We will check on those.

I copied my old data file to separate location for backup. I then followed you instructions of delete all and download. The results were as I suspected resulting in the following issues.

1. the data is back to the format 139.00 not the format of 1.3900 which is what I was told yesterday afternoon, by you, was the correct formatting.
2. this deletes a substantial portion of my data that I have maintained and obfuscates much of the correct data since the current contract
3. there is clearly something wrong since there are hundreds if not thousands of lines all over my chart that were not there before.
4. after doing this SC is now consuming 2.6+Gb memory per task manager. prior to doing as you instructed it was less than 1Gb.

I DO NOT want to delete all my old data, so therefore there must be a solution other than delete and download ALL. It makes no sense to be required to do that. All that needs updated is from yesterday afternoon, not from the beginning of time. As I explained I adjusted all my old data yesterday with a multiplier to match the new format and therefore all I need is the data going forward.

1. The correct format for now, will be the original data format that has long been used by OEC. So what you see is correct.

Refer to this page about this problem:
OEC Currency Futures Data

3. This might have something to do with the tick size of the chart not being correct. Update to the latest symbol settings and apply them to the charts as explained here:

4. Refer to help topic 30.1 here:

I will need to do as stated in post here How load SC without loading the "files to load on startup" so that I can manuualy re-edit all charts :(((((. I'm not even going to attempt to convert all my multitdues of chart drawings back to the prior format. Hopefully the new format will be adopted and confirmed as THE format very, very soon -days, NOT weeks.

3. We see what you mean now. We misunderstood what you were saying. We had not paid close enough attention. We had thought you set the chart to use the original price formatting, not the new formatting which is not yet released into the production environment. If you had used the original format you would have been OK.

3. OK, well then I'm going to use one of your terse replies back at you. I spent all day yesterday converting all my data to the new format, all my chart drawings to the new format, etc. This literally took hours as there are hundreds. Now I've spent all day today TRYING to get back to where I was yesterday morning. All-in-all, 4 wasted days considering the fact that the charts were unusable Monday-today.

to paraphrase your reply to me of "Use this EXACT command. We have enough trouble, with all of these external service problems. Users need to follow our exact instructions."

You need to read and comprehend before replying with an implicit exact, "you will be fine". I (we) have enough issues without being misled by support. :P I mean this seriously but also with a bit of snark :)

Understood, but we do not think this is entirely fair because we gave a very specific named command, word for word and bolded, that we wanted someone to follow. If you do not want to follow it, this is fine, but this is what needed to be done to get fresh data throughout the whole chart.

After reviewing what you wrote:
. Therefore all my historical data is now in the new formatting. The issue for me lies with the realtime data from the production server which is still in the old format. Hopefully, whatever correction is being planned this evening/tonight will not create more problems since I've already adjusted my data, all my drawings, studies, etc to be compatible with the new formatting.

We see how we misunderstood this. To us at the time we read this, the old format, was the 1.000 format and the new format was 100.00. This was relative To the situation at the time. And we really thought you understood that because you are using the production environment, that you needed to use the 100.00 format. this was just a misunderstanding on our part.

Not trying to be critical, just explaining why we misunderstood this especially with a high-volume amount of work that we have to do.
