i have finally discovered what's actually happening according to this thread: Bitmex Intraday data not loading more than 2 weeks on CQG WebAPI there is a bug in sierrachart where if you load any continuous futures contract chart (for example, ESM21-CME with continuous contract - Volume Based Rollover selected) at any point after opening a chartbook, and then switch the chart symbol to a cryptocurrency symbol like XBTUSD-BMEX or ETHUSD-BMEX, sierrachart will only load less than around 1 month of intraday data for the cryptocurrency symbol, even if you set the # of intradays to load to be much higher, like 365. even if you set Continuous Contract to 'None' after this point, it will not correctly load the # of days of intraday data for any cryptocurrency symbol. as long as you've loaded a continuous futures contract chart at any time after you first opened the chartbook, any cryptocurrency symbol's chart that's opened thereafter this point from this chartbook will not load enough intraday data. you have to start over by opening a new chartbook or closing the current one and reopening it. of course, even if you reopen it, you have to make sure to never load a continuous futures contract chart if you want to be able to load enough # of days' worth of data for cryptocurrency symbols. this should be easy to reproduce but let me know if you still can't. No definitively this cannot be correct. We will see if we can reproduce anything like this, but it could not be as described. At most, you would just need to reload the chart with Chart >> Reload and Recalculate.
you have to start over by opening a new chartbook or closing the current one and reopening it. of course, even if you reopen it, you have to make sure to never load a continuous futures contract chart if you want to be able to load enough # of days' worth of data for cryptocurrency symbols. What we do see is a problem affecting the individual chart itself, not the entire Chartbook, where when using the Continuous Futures Contract option, that is subsequently affecting the amount of data to load for a symbol that does not support that option. And this is resolved by reopening the Chartbook. We will look into this.

fyi, this is happening again in both v.2270 and 2276. the max # of days of intraday data i can load is limited to a little over 3 years when there's more available. please fix. |
