I just began using a few Custom Drawing Tools. This seems to be affecting my standard tool on following use. I frequently use extending rectangles, and they always work fine displaying as TC1 by default as expected. Now that I have created a couple custom drawing tools (with extending rectangles), when I go draw a regular, non-custom extending rectangle, it draws it as the last used CUSTOM drawing tool style. Even if I go into that drawing's properties and re-save the way I want TC1 to be, the next use will still be the likes of the custom tool. Hope that makes sense. Let me know if you need further clarification. |

This does not necessarily sound like a problem. We cannot say for sure because we do not know precisely what you are doing. Refer to the documentation here about Drawing Tool Configurations: Chart Drawing Tools: Drawing Tool Configuration Follow through the instructions about setting a configuration for drawing tool and see if you have any problems. You should not. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Try to keep your questions brief and to the point. 1. Use extended rectangle tool with saved default properties. TC1. All is well. 2. Create a custom drawing tool. Specifically, an extending rectangle tool. Works well. 3. Now attempt to use a regular, default extending rectangle tool. The properties will now be the SAME AS THE CUSTOM ONE. EVEN IF I CHANGE THE PROPERTIES AND SAVE AS NEW DEFAULT TC1, IT WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY NEW CHANGES AND CONTINUE TO HAVE THE PROPERTIES OF THE CUSTOM TOOL I CREATED BEFORE. |

Select Global Settings >> Tool Configurations >> Rectangle Configuration. Configure the Rectangle drawing tool as required and make sure you are aware of what Tool Configuration Number it is being saved as. Before using the rectangle tool, select Tools >> Current Tool Configuration>> [Configuration Number]. You should not have any problem. We cannot reproduce what you are describing and it does not make technical sense. There is no bug here. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I use hotkeys for all my drawing tools. Yes, if I hit the hotkey, and "Before using the rectangle tool, select Tools >> Current Tool Configuration>> [Configuration Number]." yes that works. This does not fix the issue though. Trust me. The next time I use one of the custom rectangles, I'll have to go in and do the quoted step above every time I want to go back to using my normal rectangle style. The software should not reset the configuration of the next instance of the normal drawing based on a single use of a CUSTOM drawing. |

While you are using one of the Custom Drawing Tool control bar buttons, what is, Tools >> Current Tool Configuration set to? And then when you use the keyboard shortcut to go to a Rectangle drawing tool, what is Tools >> Current Tool Configuration set to? Based upon your post #3, the issue is that you are using the same Drawing Tool, whether or not it is invoked through a Custom Drawing Tool Control Bar Button. 1. Begin with TC1 as configuration. 2. Use regular rectangle draw. Result draws as it should, TC1. 3. Use a custom drawing tool - configuration is set, as it should, to the custom setting. 4. Now attempt to use REGULAR rectangle again - configuration is set to the CUSTOM setting. I don't know how else to say it. The configuration gets STUCK on the most recently used custom drawing tool for future configurations of normal drawing tool use. The setting we need is similar to what you have for what to do after a single drawing use. On any sierra installation I always go in and change it to after single drawing use change to chart values/crosshair. Why have custom drawing tools at all if they are going to change the normal drawing tool config as well? |

Why have custom drawing tools at all if they are going to change the normal drawing tool config as well? A saved drawing tool configuration certainly will not change. This is not even technically possible. There is the difference between a preconfigured/saved Drawing Tool Configuration, and the currently selected saved configuration through the Tools >> Current Tool Config setting. Both of these are related but separate. We will clarify all of this in the documentation. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users.
