Hello, My computer has been crashing randomly whenever I click on a different symbol within the Quote Board to change what is displayed on all of my charts. Has anyone experienced this time of behavior before using the software? Thanks in advance. |

This should definitely not be occurring. Is there anything special or odd about how you are selecting the symbol in the Quote Board? If you start a new chartbook and setup a Quote Board to link to a chart and change the symbol, do you have the same problem? If not, then please get us the Chartbook where you are having an issue and we'll see if we can reproduce the problem. Follow these instructions to get us the chartbook: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=PostingInformation.php#AttachFile For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Hi John, I created a new Quote Board and added the same symbols. I am unable to reproduce the problem. So, that is a good thing. Hopefully, you can figure out the problem with the original Quote Board. Please see the uploaded file. |

Also, I removed all of the Symbols in the original Quote Board, except ESH5.CME, MESH5.CME, NQH5.CME and MNQH5.CME. And, the problem is no longer occurring. I received that Quote Board as part of a package purchased online. So, it appears that some of the symbols in the Quote Board aren't current. This may be causing the problem.

Not current/correct symbols should definitely not cause a crashing of the software, let alone the system. We are not able to reproduce the problem, so it is just good that you are no longer having the issue. Just to give you an update. Everthing was going well. Then, I mistakingly added the Gold symbol in the Quote Board as GCH5.COMEX and the computer restarted. And, when I relaunched the Sierra Chart application the previously entered incorrect Gold symbol of GCH5.COMEX was not saved. So, I entered the Gold symbol again, but this time as GCG5.COMEX and the computer did not restart. Now, I am once again able to switch between all of the symbols in the Quote Board without any issues. |

This is a slamdunk indication of a hardware problem: and the computer restarted.
Or of an operating system issue. But usually hardware.Sierra Chart cannot cause a system to restart. Once again slamdunk, hardware issue. No doubt. No doubt at all. This is not a problem with the Quote Board changing symbols and it does not matter what you are doing to try to avoid the problem. You have a serious serious hardware level issue or an operating system problem. This definitively definitively 100% is not with Sierra Chart. You have a serious issue with your system and it is not stable.. That is 110% certain. We know that. It is pointless to try to avoid the issue, or think you have avoided by doing something different with the Quote Board. You have a serious system issue. If it is a new system return it. If it were our system, we would just discard it and get another one. Or we would start replacing components. Starting with memory, CPU, drives, and if that does not work, dispose of the system. It is not worth messing around with a system like that. We actually did have one server that that had a restart problem every eight months or so, and we changed all the memory on it and all of the CPUs. Thousands of worth of upgrades, and the system is now stable. If that did not help, the system would be disposed of. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Hello, Is there a way to determine why this issue only occurs while using Quote Board in Sierra Charts? |

Are you using OpenGL in Sierra Chart?: Graphics Settings: Use OpenGL for Chart Graphics (Global Settings >> Graphics Settings >> Other) The reason you see the problem is not because of the quote board but because it sounds like you are linking the quote board symbols to a chart and then a chart reloads. This is involving large memory releases and reallocations. So there is a lot of memory being touched in this process. And likely is a faulty memory location, referring to the hardware, triggering the problem. Have you done a complete full hardware level memory test on your system? Contact your hardware manufacturer about this. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Hello, The memory test ran successfully. Ultimately, the issue with my pc randomly restarting was resolved buy turning off the ECO button on the back off the EVGA SuperNOVA 850 P5, 80 Plus Platinum 850W power supply unit and closing the heat vent inside of my office. Thanks for your help. |
