Hi....just installing Sierra onto a new computer and wanted to have it available on a non-admin win xp account.

I installed it under an admin acct and am able to launch it fine there. But when I launch it in the non-admin account, I get several of these errors:

"Failed to open the configuration file when saving. Configuration not saved."

I can clear them all by clicking 'ok' but kinda a nuisance.

Any suggestions?

Thx.

You need to solve this problem. Pressing OK is not a solution.

FYI, this is still me (the original poster of this thread)...just logging in under appropriate account.

I assumed the 'OK' solution was not permanent. I was unable to clear the "Read-only" status in either the admin or non-admin accounts.

But, through some internet research, found that booting in safe mode and logging in as admin, and allowing ownership of the Sierra chart folder for the non-admin account thru the security tab resolved the original issue for this thread.

I am now able to login & out w/o any issues in either admin or non-admin account.

But I am having connection to data feed issues now. I'll explain in the next post.

There are a couple of issues here:

First, when I launch Sierra and navigate to "Data/Trade Service Settings (DTS)" the default selection comes up as "TT FIX (not enabled for this package)" option. If I change this to "AMP/TTnet" and save and close program....then re log-in the problem still remains. In both admin & non-admin windows account.

Second, I get the following error in the message log when trying to connect to data feed:

AMP/TTNet | Connecting. | 2014-08-19 20:20:21

Will reconnect to the server in 5.0 seconds Select File >> Disconnect to prevent further connection attempts. | 2014-08-19 20:20:42

This occurs in both admin or non-admin windows account.

I already have contacted AMP directly and they were able to verify on their end that the connection is legit by launching Sierra on their PC and connecting to the data feed quickly. They also did a remote connection to verify everything was setup properly on my end. They didn't know why the DTS dialog box was not defaulting to "AMP/TTnet".

They said to relay that they were running Sierra 1174 on a Win 7 computer.

Any further suggestions??

AMP did not set your Sierra Chart account properly.

However, we are not sure what server to set your account to use.

Restart Sierra Chart and see if you can connect now.

I do see that the DTS defaults to "AMP/TTnet" after your changes so that's good.

I also see you inserted different server ID's than they provided in their setup instructions. Is there anything I need to relay to them....they said they connected last night with the previous server ID's listed??

Here's a few other things that came to mind:

1)
I installed the non-CLR version of Sierra for this escapade due to the future changes you will be constructing with the new spreadsheets. As this is a transfer of Sierra from a different computer, I copied over the 'sierra3.cfg' file to keep all my toolbars, etc....but this was from a CLR version. Would this matter?

2)
Does IE have to be my default browser. I changed this to Firefox. Does that matter?

3)
My router is set to maximum for the firewall setting. This is supposed to block things like Skype, etc. I do not have any special software firewalls other than standard Windows firewall.

Thx.

This tells us what server we need to specify. So we have corrected the server. Restart Sierra Chart to get the new IP address.

If AMP can connect, then this indicates there is a firewall problem. Refer to help topic 1.2 here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/helpdetails1.html#h1.2

1. This is fine.

2. This is not relevant to the problem.

3. Most likely this is the issue.

Well there seems to be another issue. I can connect to the data feed fine now, but when I try to choose a symbol under 'Find Symbol' the dropdown menu is ghosted out and lists 'AMP/TTNet [This Instance]'

??
