Problems with Alerts

Two problems: 1) I click "Add Symbol Alert", which is a shortcut on the mouse-right-click menu on the chart. I DO NOT put a checkmark in "Show Alert Log When Triggered" or "Show Alert Popup When Triggered". Both of these windows pop up whenever an alert is triggered and there is no way to prevent them from popping up. 2) No email is sent. Email address in "Global Settings->General Settings->Alerts" is correct. I use three Alert Numbers (1, 2, and 3). All three alerts have the exact same settings. All three alerts have the "Send E-mail When This Alert is Triggered (for Alert x) set to "yes". Alert Log says the following: - Error. Web service response. Alert message error: - Symbol GC (... etc.... the alert itself is triggered) No error is given but it says there is an error. Additional notes: - I changed the email address the alert is to be sent to and the same error occurs. One was iCloud.com and the other was gmail.com. Same error and no email. - I recently bought a new laptop and copied my entire Sierra Chart folder from my desktop PC to my laptop. No settings have been changed. I was getting alerts consistently, and without fail, on my desktop PC only a few days ago. I am not sure why I cannot get e-mail alerts now on the laptop if I have done nothing different. I would check on my PC to see if it can still send email alerts but I am in the process of moving and cannot unbox it at this time. Thank you. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2024-03-05 05:06:40

The reason the Alert Log is coming up is because of the Error you are receiving with regards to the email. With regards to the email error, refer to the following: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/GeneralSettings.html#EmailNotifications For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

I read through the link prior to submitting the support ticket. It does not offer solutions to my problem. 1) There is no error given in the Alert Log. It just says "Alert Message Error: " and is completely blank. 2) I changed email addresses, as well as left it blank (the link says it will email your Sierra Chart email if left blank) and it still does not work. What is the potential cause of this problem and what are my options? I recently upgraded to 2609. Could this be the issue? Leaving the "email" field completely blank and having SC send it to my default/registered email address still gives me the same error, indicating it is unable to send an email for some reason and isn't a typo in the email address field. Our apologies for this, the service that we use for the email alerts was turned off by the vendor. We are working to get it back up, which we expect to be tonight.

Hi, I'm also experiencing the same issue the last two days. The alert goes off on the platform but no email is being sent.

At this point in time put no reliance on email alerts. Refer to: Notice: Sierra Chart Alert App and Telegram Replacing Email/SMS Alerts We will do our best to have an alternative ready, in about two weeks. Consider email alerts unsupported at this time. We are not going to provide any further support for this. And it was some user, who marked a very large number of their own email alerts, as spam, which triggered the problem. Email alerts at this time are unsupported. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Hi SCE, Just on the subject of having alerts through Telegram (or a coming alternative), will it eventually work with Linux as I noticed you said the Telegram chat crashes under Linux "One comment, we have noticed the chat does not work on Linux. It causes the program to freeze. Maybe because the chat window runs on another thread." Otherwise I might have to use something like the 'Pushover' app and setup push notifications to my mobile. There is support for Linux now. And we really do not know what this problem is with the chat window. It is a Wine problem. Not with Sierra Chart. We probably could implement a workaround by adding an option to run the chat on the main thread. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
