Hello, when having the pointer tool active, on some charts it automatically switches to the hand tool when I click and hold on the chart and move the cursor. And it is moving the chart as expected. On other charts I have to manually switch from the pointer to the hand tool before I can move the chart around. Which setting is controlling this automatic switch from the pointer tool to the hand tool? I looked and searched but could not find it. Thanks |

There is the following setting: Chart Drawing Tools: After Single Tool Use Change To (Global Settings >> Tool Settings >> General >> Tool Options) But this is a global setting and not per chart. So we are not sure we are fully understanding the situation you are describing, as you state that some charts work one way while others work a different way. the mentioned setting I have set to switch to hand. I attached two screen shots. Both take with the left mouse button clicked. On the first you see that I've the pointer selected in the tool bar and the hand tool mouse cursor appears and is functional, I can move the chart. On the second again the pointer tool is selected but the hand tool did not engage on left clicking. The charts are in different chart books, but I don't think that matters since all tool related settings are global. If there is any difference in behavior per chart then it must be a chart setting. At least that is my understanding of Sierra Charts Setting scopes. I hope this explains it a bit better than my initial message. |

This is very confusing, as the Pointer is its own tool. Therefore when the Pointer is selected, the Hand tool is not, so the Hand tool should not be available when Pointer is selected. In the chart in which you have the Hand showing, but the Pointer selected, if you left click and drag, does the chart move (i.e. is the Hand tool actually active)? Also, we are curious how the setting for "Tools >> Tool Settings >> General >> Use Common Drawing Tool For Charts" is set for your system. Hi John, I've "Use Common Drawing Tool For Charts" set to Yes. In the chart in which you have the Hand showing, but the Pointer selected, if you left click and drag, does the chart move (i.e. is the Hand tool actually active)?
yes the hand tool becomes active when I left click and I can move the chart as expected with the hand tool. On those charts where I can do that the pointer tool and the hand tool are indistinguishable. |

Can you please attach the chartbook that shows this issue and let us know the chart number where you have the Pointer selected and the hand tool is showing. Refer to the following for how to attach a file: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=PostingInformation.php#AttachFile Also, please attach the file named "Sierra4.config" that is in your main Sierra Chart installation folder. The chart that you are able to scroll, as if the Hand tool is selected when only the Pointer is selected, is because it has no scrollbar. We will make sure the documentation makes this clear if it does not already.

Ohh man that's so simple, embarrassing that I did not find it on my own. I was focused on settings and did not think about enabled or disabled window elements. Thanks for your patience and time to find this out. |
