Hello Sierra Chart, I have a few questions about the Cycles, Gann Fan and Line tools. I have referred to the online documentation before opening this ticket. 1) Cycles Tool: when using this tool, the vertical lines are appearing but the cycles/arcs aren’t. I’m not seeing the cycles/arcs similar to the screenshots on the Cycles documentation page (Chart Drawing Tools: Cycle)? 2) Gann Fan Tool: when using this tool, the lines are appearing on other charts (“Copy Chart Drawings From Charts”), however, if the “From Chart Setting” (Gann Fan Properties > Options > Value Increment Per Bar Set From: > From Chart Setting) is enabled, the lines no longer display on other charts? 3) Gann Fan Tool: the “Extend” option is functioning on an intermittent basis. Sometimes the lines will extend even when the “Extend” option is not ticked. This often occurs if the Gann Fan “Second Point” is drawn relatively close to current price action, for example, within 100 bars or so? 4) Line Tool: is it possible to rotate an existing line that has been drawn (not using either the “Flip Vertical” or “Use Fixed Angle” options) while preserving the length? Also, when copying and moving a line (“Copy And Move Drawing”), is it possible to “snap” the line to a OHLC without changing the points? On a side note, in the past you have provided an hourly rate of $37, $40, etc., for custom development. Do you still offer this option for small requests? Thank you. |

1. This is an OpenGL issue. We will have to look into it. If you want to see the Cycles then you will have to turn off OpenGL. 2. We are not able to reproduce this. What we are seeing is that the Gann Fan is using the "Chart Setting" for the "Value Increment per Bar" for each individual chart. Check what you have this set to in the chart where the lines are not showing. 3. We can not reproduce this. If you can give us very specific instructions on how you are able to make this occur, then we can see if we can find out what is occurring. 4. You can not adjust the Line Tool and keep the length constant. We are not sure what you mean by "Snap to the OHLC" (which is available) without changing the points? If you snap a line to the OHLC, then the points that define the line must change to match the location where the line is now drawn. -- We are too busy to take on any custom development at this time. Hi John, Thank you for your support. 1) Thank you. 2) I have confirmed that the "Value Increment per Bar" settings are identical for both charts. Upon zooming out, lines appear, however, they aren't intersecting the same bars and aren't in the same location, meaning, the chart drawings being copied are incorrect. The source chart where the Gann Fan is drawn from doesn't intersect any bars, however, the chart displaying the Gann Fan from the source chart has lines intersecting bars. Refer to the green fans in the attached chartbook. 3) I have created a new chartbook and reproduced this. Refer to the yellow fans in the attached chartbook. Note, both Gann Fan instances have the "Extend" option unticked, yet, one Gann Fan extends and the other doesn't. 4) Ok. |

2. What you are seeing is correct. Keep in mind that the "Value Increment Per Bar" is the ratio of the Price (in ticks) to the number of bars. Therefore, you will see different results with the same "Value Increment Per Bar" when you are dealing with different timeframes. Refer to the information here: Chart Settings: Value Increment per Bar in Ticks (Price Unit per Bar in Ticks) (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Drawing menu) 3. The one thing we can see is that there is a variable that shows that the Fan was "cut" at some point, but the cut occurred at a location prior to the first point. This is why it is always extending. If you can give us the exact method you used to create this, then we can try to track it down. But without that, we can not determine how this occurred. Hi John, Thanks for clarifying 2) about the different time frames. For 3), I've uploaded a short (less than 20 seconds) video of the Gann Fan "extend" issue. This is using the same chartbook originally provided. |
