Hi, I have this set to "Yes" and I have selected the chartbook file I wish to open and added it to the list. When I load SC, it does not load. I have tried this for a couple different chartbooks in a couple different instances of SC. Please advise. Thanks |

When you open the window for "Select Files to Open on Startup" is the chartbook you want to automatically open listed? Or do you have to add it every time? Make sure when you add it that you select OK to close that window. The only other thing is that the Chartbooks you are opening need to be in the "Data" folder. Make sure you do not change the folder that comes up by default when selecting the chartbooks to open. This should work just fine - it has worked for many years without issue. The file is not in the data folder. I was not aware that was a requirement. But it shows up in the list every time. Would like the ability to have the chartbook in another folder since it’s synced with another machine. Are there any other issues with a chartbook not being in the data folder besides this feature and may I request we allow files outside data to be loaded on startup? |

For Files to Open on Startup, you can definitely choose files that are outside of the default Data folder by adding a file and pressing the Folder button on the File Open window and then navigating to the folder and then selecting a file. Ok. Is there a workaround to be able to choose a chartbook in a different folder other than a subfolder of \Data folder? The reason I would like this is because I am trying to use the same chartbooks and trade from 2 different locations. I would like to use something like google drive some file cloud syncing service to keep the .cht files synced so I don't have to keep copying them back and forth. afaik most of these services work by pointing to some root folder and it keeps all the subfolders/files synced. So in order for this to work I would have to set the root folder of this shared service to a subfolder of \Data which is not ideal Is there a way to allow two way syncing across machines of chartbook files? Would the chartbook sharing feature be able to do this? |

You CAN NOT do what you are specifically stating - synchronizing a Chartbook between multiple systems in a way that the chartbook is in a location that is shared by both systems. This could create many issues if both systems are trying to access the chartbook at the same time. What you could do is to use a synchronizing program that makes a copy of the file when it is changed, so you are not doing anything to the actual file itself, just making a copy that you could then access at the other location. There used to be a Microsoft tool called SyncToy that did this well, but it looks like this is no longer available. You would have to look for another tool that does this. The better option is to use the Chartbook Sharing feature between the systems. To be clear I am only one person using the chartbook(s). And I would not try to access the file at the same time (closing sierra chart first on the other machine before opening it on another). But I understand your point. Would the chart book sharing feature have to be used each time there is a change? I understand the realtime sharing page is a work in progress but I did not understand what realtime sharing meant from a feature perspective. Realtime Chartbook Sharing Does it sync changes automatically across instances (thus achieving what I want)? |

You can use real-time Chartbook sharing to share a Chartbook across different instances, but when you begin to use that shared Chartbook in a particular instance, you would want to stop receiving that Chartbook in that instance. Otherwise, changes you make are just going to get overwritten.

Ok I will play around with it to test and understand better. But it sounds like I can maybe do what I want just sharing the workspace back and forth between instances taking care to disconnect and reconnect before sharing each time |
