Hello,

I hope it's not just me. In your release notes for v1978 you mentioned new parameter of the Market Depth study to specify how to determine depth (based on all bars or from visible bars only).

I have 2 questions here:
1) by determining depth based on "all bars". What does "all bars" mean? Is it bars on presented on the chart time period and just above or below section of the screen currently shown? Or is it something else?
2) I have installed v1978, but can't find this parameter even after removing and re-adding the study? Is it possible that this change is not part of v1978 build?

Thanks and best regards

Our apologies for that. It is not in release 1978, but it is in the Pre-Release version 1979. We will update the notes. If you use the Fast Update option to upgrade to that version you will see the new option. Refer to the following for the instructions to update:
Software Download: Fast Update

The new option will be located 3rd from the bottom of the list of Inputs. It is called Determine Min and Max Levels from All Bars or Visible Bars. We have added the documentation for this setting here:
Market Depth Historical Graph: Determine Min and Max Levels from All Bars or Visible Bars

As noted in the documentation All Bars means all the bars in the chart. Previously, only the Visible Bars would be used to determine the Min and Max levels, therefore the coloring would change as you scrolled. This allows you to have a more consistent view by using the Min and Max found throughout all the loaded bars in the chart that have depth data.

We are still working on updating the rest of the documentation for the Market Depth Historical Graph to reflect this change. We should have that done in a day or two.

Hi John,

I always wondered about Sierra pre-release versions. Is it a single build and if you want to fix/change something in it then another pre-release version will be allocated for that? Or you keep changing pre-release until it works as expected, which makes it into a release?

So, if I install pre-release today, will be always the same or I have to keep reinstalling it until new version number will be assigned to pre-releases?

Thanks

Would it be at all possible to have an option for 'All Bars' to be session specific?

All bars from evening session
All bars from day session
All bars

Many Thanks!

I would add to Chris_uk's list:

- all vertically visible bars

We can have hundreds of levels for CME products and if somebody "flashing" 20000 contracts 30.0 points away from current price in ES (which is usually outside of my vertically visible area) I don't want it to "blind" my whole really visible chart

Thanks

With regards to post #4:

The Pre-Release version typically changes whenever there is an update. There are some rare times, when something is found fairly soon after a Pre-Release is put up, that we may not increment the version, as very people will have seen it.

The general rule is simply that you would need to only download the Pre-Release when the version number changes, unless you are told otherwise in a support post.

With regards to posts 5 and 6. We are continuing to work on this area of the software, so we will see what we can do. But we cannot make any commitments to timeframes.

With regards to post 6. One way to work around this issue is to use the Maximum Levels to Display option within the Market Depth Historical Graph. Even when All Bars is selected, it is still only looking within the range of depths that are displayed using that Input.

Hi John,

Thanks for quick response.

I agree, that it will work, but it's more of a workaround. If your team could implement feature to filter vertically present levels, then if I change vertical scale of the chart or simply scroll it vertically, different levels will appear in different shades. This will be more in line with what Bookmap is doing. You always see market depth correctly for levels present on the screen only

Thanks again
