What is the best cloud platform with good rates i can use. I checked Microsoft Azure, AWS and Google but seems i get confused on the right package to take for SC.

I'm using Google Cloud. It's the least expensive for what you get. 8 vCPUs with 7.2GM ram seems to work best for me. I'm using SSD drives as well.

@ User AR
Do you use G-Cloud VM to run SC and trade in the cloud or do you just use it back up data?

I run SC and IB's TWS both in real time on a Windows 2019 Server (Desktop display version). Just use Microsoft's RDC to connect to it. This is the best way to trade as you can scale up/down a system in a matter of minutes. You have fault tolerance setup and know your system is running in a secure data center. I don't know why anyone would buy a high end PC to trade when you can use a VM. Google gives you 50GB of SSD space with this setup which is more than I need. Total cost ~ $60-80/month depending on your configuration and what region you have hosting the VM.

I am using ChartVPS for my VPS. It has 4 vCPU and 4GB ram. I have 27 chartbooks open with 3 charts each and this runs great. I am not using tick data, nor do I use any indicators on my charts. If you are using more processor intensive charts and analysis, you may need more power. I'd say start lower and bump up if you need to. There is no need to pay for idle resources if you aren't going to use them.

@User75002 Thanks for the ChartVPS info. I was not aware of them. How many of your 27 chartbooks are visible at the same time? Do you just flip through the books or do have many monitors?

@UserAR - I would have thought using the RDC to a cloud source would be much slower than using a SC loaded PC. Why do you use the Win 2019 Server OS? The additional +$700 cost above Win10 does not seem worth it.

Thanks

@john4th, I only have one chartbook visible at a time and flip through them as I analyze the instrument. I only have one monitor and I believe with a VPS, you are limited to one monitor, but I could be wrong on that. I've never investigated that option. My system is using 2012 R2 server.

Regarding your other question, I won't answer directly for them, but with VPS/Cloud providers, you are going to be using a server based system. You do not pay for the license of the OS; it is baked in to the monthly cost. It is possible to use Windows 10 in some cloud providers like AWS, but they are focusing more on virtual desktops for end users. Just use the servers; they are more stable and will perform better as a whole.

You can use multiple monitors with a VPS using a RDC. Google Cloud Window's licensing: https://cloud.google.com/compute/disks-image-pricing#windows_server_pricing It's $.04/hour/CPU. My server is hosted in a data center between where I trade from and IB's servers so I'm not adding any meaningful distance.

Thanks for all the information.
FYI- I use a 65" 4K TV as my monitor which allows for 16 charts with studies below each one.
