Hello Friends, I have a question regarding TD Ameritrade brokerage and Thinkorswim . I see on Sierra's supported brokerage page that it supports TD Ameritrade as one of its broker . Does it supports THinkorSwim trading platform also ? can I integrate Sierra with TD Ameritrade/thinkorswim paper trading accnt . Also I am under the impression that TD Ameritrade is the broker and thinkorswim is their trading platform same like IB & IB TWS respectively . |

No. Sierra Chart works direct with the TD Ameritrade web server protocol and the server they provide to Sierra Chart is for stock trading only. So if you just want to trade stocks, then you can use Sierra Chart with your TD Ameritrade account. But not for trading futures. What about Stock Options ? Can I trade Options with TD Ameritrade ? Do they provide Data Feed for Options . If not which is the best brokerage I can trade Options through Sierra Charts . I know IB does . Is there any other brokerage ? I need one which also provides paper trading thanx in advance |

Sierra Chart does support trading stock options through TD Ameritrade. You are able to receive market data within Sierra Chart for options and trade them as well. You can look up the option symbols on the TD Ameritrade website to use within Sierra Chart.

We do not know if it is a problem with the symbol or whether TD Ameritrade does not provide historical Intraday data for options. This is the response from them: Thank you for contacting us. The format for option symbols in the API would be as follows: AMTD_092210P12.5 Historical OHLC data and volatility are available, as well. See if that options symbol format works for you. We did not get an error message with the symbol, but there is no historical data. However, we probably need to look into this further because we think there is a symbol translation which is used. So that may not be the right format.
