Hello, I am using the symbol $VIX. The data is provided by IB. All VIX data (weekly/ 5/15 mn ect..) is loading fine on the TWS from IB and works real-time, but doesn't load until the end and does not up-date at all on Sierra. The all historical/intraday data when downloaded display all required spec. The symbol I am currently trying is the " VIX-201512-CFE-USD-1000" that is the Dec16'15 @CFE contract. Now if downloading the same symbol from CBOE, the message of a completed download appear but the chart remain black on the screen no matter the period selected.. Please let me know if this issue concern Sierra platform or the TWS.. Thank for your help in advance.

The $VIX symbol is a Sierra Chart symbol. Not an Interactive Brokers symbol. For the IB index symbols you need to look in File >> Find Symbol >> IB Indexes. For VIX-201512-CFE-USD-1000 you will need to specify the expiration day as well in the symbol. So the format will be: VIX-201512##-CFE-USD-1000, where ## is the expiration day. You should be able to find this by searching for the symbol in Trader Workstation. Hi there, the VIX Index is the ticker symbol for the CBOE volatility trend, it is distributed by any good broker or service provider of contract data. I just didn't know that you guys had your own.. However, trying your solution with your updated format does load a chart, this is just not getting live up-date.. any new idea? Regards, |

Hi there, thanks for the password issue. I am using the exact symbol as provided in your resolve post above, that is: VIX-201512##-CFE-USD-1000, the result is a complete download up to the end point in time, but no following data passing that point of download completion. I've also tried : VIX-IND-CBOE listed under (IB Indexes) $VIX under Indexes (real-time) Etc.. Please not that this is the only symbol between any other one that seem to present an issue, it is also the very single issue that I have with the platform connecting to the IB feed. |

The two hashmarks need to be set to the particular expiration day in the month. From the screenshot you attached it looks like that is going to be 16. So the symbol would be: VIX-20151216-CFE-USD-1000 But we also see a symbol mapping problem. We need to spend some time to look into this later today.
