How can I pinpoint what makes my Sierra be extrelemy slow (clicking on any button will require about 30 seconds to have the hand again)? It used to work fine, and suddenly, it is just not usable. Thanks for the suggestions. |

Thanks. While some of those potential causes can be ruled out, I have already been through that. For example, what is "too much data to load"? This is very subjective, how much is too much? Besides, it used to work, nothing has been changed and suddenly it won't even respond when pressing any button on the menu for example. Nothing to do with too much data or content such as custom studies as I don't even get to go that far before it freezes.. Right clicking on a chart takes 30s, adding a study or just clicking "cancel" takes a minute when the platform is frozen.. |

What could be the cause? Once all charts have loaded up, why would clicking on any button on any menu, take 5 mn to load up?

You really have to go through a process of elimination. In a case like this the best procedure is to save the Chartbook and then go to each chart and close it with File >> Close Active Window to isolate what chart is causing the problem. Or at least see if when you start to close several charts the problem goes away or is greatly reduced. In regards to how much data can be loaded, even 500 days is not too much data to load, once the data is loaded, and if there are no studies on the chart, and the computer is fast. You are in a better position to answer how much data is too much. Experiment with the setting and see what impact it has. The other item of concern is always anti-malware and security running on the system which could be causing high CPU usage. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. The other possibility is to distribute processing load among multiple copies of Sierra Chart.
