We would like to know what is the typical time duration for clearing the recent bid/ask volume that have not been active or visited since a certain number of milliseconds.

well.. it depends on the instrument.

That would vary on trader and instrument. I would use 2.5 seconds on es. It would be really nice if it has the effect on a cell basis: unlike jigsaw initial implementation with a single timer clearing all cells at once even those that were just visited: in my case a cell recent volume text should never be visible for more than 2.5 seconds, but also never less than 2.5 seconds. Also you could make the text gradually vanish. This would be like trail of intention integrated in text. The gradual vanishing of text could be an option. 8 diminishing opacity gradient levels before completely vanishing. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2024-12-06 08:22:18

In my case I am looking at 5-30 mins. The idea is if price moves away from current prices for some time I would want the dom cleared at that area to indicate no recent activity there for x mins/secs. To keep it flexible and future proof, can you make the timer limit the largest ms value possible? Or alternatively there could be a field for mins and another for milliseconds. Time duration, probably a couple of sec for fast markets and a couple of mins for slow markets.. but also depends on a preference. This is probably more useful in fast markets when it becomes inconvenient to constantly clear vol by yourself.

Yes, usually within a few seconds. I currently use a script to clear all after 3 secs. However, I’ve seen some people using it for less than 1 sec too. And mine is quite crude as it would clear all at once and not just those that have not been visited. I am sure you’re just asking to get an idea and you would provide a field/option to put in the sec/millisec that user would like to use. Thanks. |

In version 2719, this new setting in Chart >> Chart Settings >> Market Depth controls this feature: "Clear Recent Bid Ask Volume Inactive Time in Milliseconds (0=disabled)" Only set it in one of the charts for the symbol. Not more than one. So there is not unnecessary processing. It will affect all charts, showing recent bid/ask volume for the symbol. Hi, I just upgraded Sierra Chart to 2719 to try this new exciting feature. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have any effect on the recent bid/ask collumns. The numbers don't clear at all whatever the parameters I set in the Chart Settings. I made sure to use a brand new chartbook with just a Trade DOM and a single chart open. The test was made in the market replay environnement since the servers are close during the weekend. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2024-12-09 17:21:36

We did not consider this feature during a chart replay. It may not work properly. It was tested, but we tested it with a crypto symbol: BTCUSDT_PERP_BINANCE We will work on adding support, for a chart replay. It works perfectly in real time, even when combining ticks in the recent columns. This new feature comes very handy, thank you very much, SierraChart |

Yes, thank you very much for this new feature ! It's a huge improvement. For curiosity sake, do you have any plan to transfer one day the parameters located in the menu "DOM settings" to "Chart Settings" ? So each DOM could have its own parameters like the Max bid/ask Depth Pulling/Stacking levels for exemple ? It would be useful when trading markets with different levels of liquidity like ES and NQ. |

I tested it in the live market on ES DOM and it seems to be working fine. Thanks a lot for doing that. Great improvement! |

Thanks a lot for implementing this SC. It is well implemented, better than on the "other" product with similar feature. Since it's christmas time, and since you are working on the DOM, what about another gift for your customers ? We would like please the momentum tail implemented. There are requests for it: Feature Request: Momentum Tails Momentum tails Many customer will be very happy about this. |

Agreed, momentum tails are a great visual aid on the DOM, I think Sierra Chart should have it

Potential bug: When I try to disable by setting back to 0 its still functioning. I had it set to 20000 for 20 secs and its still clearing out old price levels after 20secs despite trying to disable. I have tried duplicating chart but the setting carries over to new chart. It seems once set, you can't seem to un-set? Obviously I just change to a massive number to get around for now but thought you might want to know o = disabled not working Update: Ok I still had a chart DOM in the chartbook set to 20000, so it seems you can't have different settings for different DOMs within the same chartbook ? All DOMs in chartbook set to 0 disable works now Date Time Of Last Edit: 2025-02-20 14:21:26

Yes, this would be true. The Recent Bid/Ask are kept only on a per symbol basis, so if a level gets reset by any chart, then this will be reflected in all charts for that symbol.
