Portions of intraday data not downloading by default

Every day, a part of intraday data does not try being downloaded, by default, when I open a chart for a new symbol. A gap in time happens. For example, I launch Sierra Chart at 10:08 am. Intraday data from 09:30 to 10:08 am is downloaded normally. But data from 10:08 to 10:14 does not exist. Sierra Chart does not even try downloading it. I can open this symbol later in the day, it will download data from 10:14 to current time of the day. But that portion from 10:08 to 10:14 stays ignored. Manually, I can right click each chart -> Delete and Download Data. This will redownload and fill the gap. But I realistically cannot do this every time I switch symbols, there'd be more than 200 actions like this to do every day. Other instances of Sierra Chart do not have this problem. Only my main one. I closed the chartbook and created a new intraday chart. Same problem. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2025-03-10 15:02:36

What is the symbol of the chart? We need the exact symbol as it is entered in "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol >> Symbol".

Symbol: AMD_MBO Trade and Current Quote Symbol: AMD_STK_SMART-NASDAQ-USD Use as trade only symbol: yes I attached a screenshot of this. You can see a gap at 10:05. The system thought some bars didn't have to be loaded, until I manually did "reload and download data". This is one of many examples. The same applies to MSFT, META, AMZN, etc... There really is no reason for something like this to be occurring, particularly every day. What are your "Session Times" set to (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Session Times)? On a side note, I never used to have such a problem. Here are possible tracks I've explored: - I have recently added 3 sub instances of Sierra Chart. This data problem happens even when only my main instance is running, though. But I'm not ruling out the possibility that a configuration in a sub instance's data settings causes a persisting problem somewhere. - I activated Open GL on my main Instance. Deactivating it keeps the problem intact. My intraday file update list is set to empty. I used to have ~80 symbols here. Now it makes Sierra Chart freeze. I've tested around and I can only keep up to 27 symbols updating at the same time. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2025-03-10 18:03:59

Is the time of the missing data consistent, it is always 10:08 to 10:14? Or does it depend on the time you get on the system Please get us you Message Log after you log in and the data is not updating. It depends on the time when I get on my system. It hasn't happened for the past two days, somehow. I think this will forever remain a mystery. I'll get back to you if it happens again later. The message log, although I didn't save it, said intraday data was being downloaded. Downloads proceeded and ended normally. 10:08 to 10:14 simply did not exist in the data file of AMD_MBO.scid until I manually did "Delete and Download Data". So I deleted and re-downloaded everything. My last question left for now, is why my Intraday File Update List freezes Sierra Chart altogether when I put more than ~27 symbols in there. I used to be able to have 80+ symbols. All I changed was I created three sub-instances of Sierra Chart. It keeps freezing now, when all my sub-instances are closed. Even when all chartbooks are closed. Simply starting data downloading when the Intraday File Update List is filled with more than ~27 symbols during a moment of the day when there is activity (of course, this doesn't happen when markets are closed) is enough to freeze Sierra Chart. As a workaround, I can put the same list of 80+ symbols in an associated watchlist then manually do Edit -> Download Data for Associated Watch List Symbols. This will download all data without a problem. But the continuously updating way, via Intraday File Update List, always freezes. I have attached two screenshots of my message log when that happens. One today. One yesterday. Context: only the main Instance of Sierra Chart is opened. No chart is opened. I just hit Connect to data feed. The Intraday File Update List has the 50 symbols I use the most: I attached this list, if you need to compare. Sierra Chart is completely frozen at the moment I take these screenshots, so I can't copy and paste them directly sadly. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2025-03-12 16:35:46

This is 100% a system issue: is why my Intraday File Update List freezes Sierra Chart altogether when I put more than ~27 symbols in there
It is not an issue with Sierra Chart. It strictly relates to your particular system hardware and Windows operating system. The freezing is at the operating system/hardware level. There is a solution to this. Install two additional NVME drives in your system. One for Sierra Chart and then one for the Data Files Folder: General Settings Window: Data Files Folder (Global Settings >> General Settings >> Paths >> Files and Folder Paths) Move Sierra Chart onto one of those drives and set the Data Files Folder to use the other one. I understand. I will buy two additional NVME SSD drives and try this. But a chartbook I have been using successfully for years, now freezes the same way without any change brought to my PC configuration. The Intraday File Update List is completely empty. What used to work perfectly just doesn't work anymore, ever since I have installed several instances of Sierra Chart it seems. This freezes with a 4% CPU usage, 25% memory usage, 0% Disk and 0% Network. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2025-03-20 00:04:42

If a particular Chartbook is freezing, refer to: High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.16 - What to do if Sierra Chart is in a frozen state for an extended time due to extended high CPU usage caused by an automatically or manually opened Chartbook The freezing could be because of different reasons including the operating system.
