Interactive Brokers Henry Hub Natural Gas Monthly Futures Symbol Update Required

Effective Sunday 13 October 2024 for trade date Monday 14 October 2024, NYMEX will launch Henry Hub Natural Gas Weekly Futures. With the rollout of Henry Hub Natural Gas Weekly Futures, I started getting the following error in SC: 'The contract description specified for NG is ambiguous: you must specify the currency'. Real-time data for Natural Gas Monthly Futures Contracts stopped downloading 2 days ago. I am running Interactive Brokers TWS Version 10.32.1d & SC Version 2671. In order to fix the error above, the Interactive Brokers Chart Symbols / Available Symbols for Natural Gas Monthly Futures Contracts need to be updated in SC to include the year, month and day. So current symbol NG-202411-NYMEX (Nov) needs to be updated to NG-20241029-NYMEX, NG-202412-NYMEX (Dec) needs to updated to NG-20241126-NYMEX etc. If you have any questions or comments, let me know. There is not support in Sierra Chart for the day number of a month in a symbol. Only contract year and month. You will have to manually specify this. So this format cannot be supported. This is something, that we are not going to be adding support for. It does not affect other Trading services like this. But certainly you can manually specify the symbol. That is not an issue at all. But the auto generation of a symbol, is not going to be supported. Symbols which use year and month only, can be automatically generated. That is how they work now. But why not just add the currency as it says: 'The contract description specified for NG is ambiguous: you must specify the currency'.

I tried the following symbol specifying the currency: NG-202411-NYMEX-USD-10000 and it does not work. No real-time data is downloaded. I still get the error: 'The contract description specified for NG is ambiguous. Click your symbol information.' Specifying the currency removes the 'you must specify the currency' part of the error. The chart is blank. If I use symbol: NG-20241029-NYMEX, real-time data is downloaded. I get the message: Symbol settings not found for current service which disappears after a few seconds. I trade Micro Henry Hub Natural Gas MHNG. I can chart that instead of NG. Going forward, I will manually specify the symbol with day number of the month in the symbol.
