My audio alerts are not working in SC. My audio is working on my computer as I tested it. When I go to the Global Settings > General Settings > Alerts, I try to test play the audio files and no noise is made on any of them?

Sierra Chart uses a very simple call to the Windows Operating system to play a sound file.

If you are properly selecting a sound file and selecting the "Test Sound" button on the "Global Settings >> General Settings >> Alerts" page and not getting any sound, then the issue would have to be something in your operating system setup.

You can also try to play the sound using another tool, like Windows Media Player. The files are located in the "AlertSounds" folder under you main Sierra Chart installation folder (typically C:\SierraChart, but may be different). The files are standard .wmv files. If you do not get a sound, then you need to look further in the reason why. Even if you do get a sound with another tool, you would still need to work through the Operating System issues with sounds to get the sound to play out of Sierra Chart.

Ok. I will have to look into it. The files do play as .wmv on my computer but not in SC.

One other question was when I try to view the VIX on the daily, the symbol VIX_CGI doesn't seem to load data. Is that the right symbol for VIX in SC's selection?

That is the correct symbol, but you will not get any data for the VIX unless you subscribe to the exchange. We do not have any delayed streaming data for the CBOE Indices exchange.

To activate the exchange, follow these instructions:

Which exchange is it? I thought I was signed up for all of them? Is there an equivalent to VIX in the ones I already have signed up on?

You have the following exchanges active:
- Full CME Group (CME, CBOT, COMEX, NYMEX) for Non-Professional Trading Accounts
- CBOT with Market Depth for Non-Professional Trading Accounts

So you do have all of the CME Group along with Market Depth for the CBOT. But the "CBOE Indices" is a completely different exchange not associated with the CME Group. In addition to the "CBOE Indices" we also have exchange option for EUREX, CFE (CBOE Futures Exchange), and U.S. Equities.

To get the VIX Index, you would want to activate the exchange option for the "CBOE Indices". Follow these instructions:
