Struggling with the interpretation of this one: I understand completely how this indicator is calculated, but I am wondering if my interpretation is correct: Please verify that "If the current numbers bar closes positive relative to the close of the prior bar, then the indicator will compute the Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference for the bar minus the Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference High for the bar; and thus, give a figure that informs us of the direction and strength of the move as the bar was finishing positive ...... correct? Tx

Your interpretation is not correct. It has nothing to do with how the bar closes. The first part is determining whether which of the "Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference High" or "Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference Low" was changed. If the "Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference High" was last changed, then "Finish Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference" is calculated as follows: "Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference" (of the bar) - "Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference High" Conversely, if the "Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference Low" was last changed, then calculation is the following: "Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference" - "Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference Low" For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Ok, so to clarify, when you say "last changed" you mean whichever one was the last one to reach the highest (ask-bid high) or lowest (ask-bid low) of the two calculations during the formation of the bar?

We are not sure, as we do not know how to interpret your statement. It all depends on what you mean by "last one". We will try to restate this to make sure we cover what you are wondering. The calculation of "Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference High" and "Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference Low" is always occurring. One or the other will change, it is not possible for both to change at the same time. Whenever one of these is updated, then the "Finish Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference" is updated. Keep in mind, this is constantly occurring for the current bar as it is forming. When looking at historical data (bars that are already closed) then it can be thought of as whichever item was changed last is what drives the "Finish Ask Volume Bid Volume Difference" value that is displayed. I find the following easier for interpretation purposes: In SC Numbers Bars Calculated Values study, add -- Max Ask Vol - Bid Vol (SG8) Delta Vol (SG1) Minimum Ask Vol - Bid Vol (SG9) Finish Ask Vol Bid Vol Difference (SG34) If Delta > 0, then FinishDiff = (Max Delta - Delta Vol) If Delta < 0, then FinishDiff = (Delta Vol - Min Delta) In other words, you are looking to see how far Delta Volume closes in relation to the bar Max/ Min Delta Volume, depending which is applicable. It helps with identifying potential rotations in the market. For example at a Swing High, FinishDiff is large, and negative. Sentiment is aggressively to the downside. Hope it helps. |
