I made a Spreadsheet System for Trading for my 1min chart, and I wanted to see how it performed on the 5min. I duplicated the chart and changed the second one to a 5min time frame, and that seems to have broken the Spreadsheet System for Trading. Signals are no longer occurring on the 1min. Even when all conditions are met, neither the buy column nor the sell column becomes true. I can no longer edit the sheet either. When I switch the sheet number in the top left, it switches to the Spreadsheet System for Trading that applies to the 5min chart. I have already removed this study from the 5min chart but that is the only sheet that allows me to edit. |

You have to be careful with the name of the spreadsheet itself as well as the name of the sheets that you are using. In particular, you need to pay attention to the Inputs for the spreadsheet related to the sheet name that is used. Refer to the following and the 2 items below it: Spreadsheet Study Inputs: Chart Data Output Specification Type Also refer to the following regarding the Spreadsheet Name: Chart Studies: Settings and Inputs Tab >> Spreadsheet Name / DLL File and Function Name If you kept the defaults for this, then when you duplicated the chart, the new chart would use its own sheet number for the spreadsheet. In which case, there would not be any formulas setup for that sheet, unless you were using a separate formula sheet. To try and resolve this, on the 1 minute chart, check how you defined the sheet for that chart and then go to that sheet in your spreadsheet and see if it is still correct and working as you expect. If it is, then you are fine with that chart. You should probably remove the Spreadsheet Study from the 5 minute chart to ensure that it is still not causing issues. If you continue to have an issue, then you would want to see if you can recover the spreadsheet from the Backups that are made. I wanted to test another symbol so I duplicated the chart without the spreadsheet study. I proceeded to make a whole new Spreadsheet System for Trading for that chart. I am still running into a similar problem, where the Spreadsheet System for Trading gives a signal (columns K and M), the signal appears on the chart, but autotrader does not place the trades. I have "Auto Trading Enabled - Global" and "Auto Trading Enabled - Chart" checked. When I am in Sim, I have tried both 'yes' and 'no' for "Send orders to trade service." I eliminated the spreadsheet duplication as the possible problem, and I believe the problem may lie in the fact that I duplicated the chart, rather than opening a new chart and adding my studies. Or I may simply have some other setting turned off. Let me know what you think. |

In Simulation Mode you need to have the Input for "Send Orders To Trade Service" set to "No". Given this, and the Auto-Trading options set as you have, then it should be working. When you get a signal but do not have anything showing in the chart, select "Trade >> Trade Service Log" and see if there is anything in there that gives an indication of what is occurring. This is definitely not an issue with duplicating the chart since you started a new spreadsheet. I set "Enhanced Auto Trade Signal Related Logging" to yes in Analysis>>Studies>>[my spreadsheet study]. It alerted me that the parent contract amount was not enough for the attached orders. I assumed having a number selected in the Trade Window attached to the chart would do it, but a contract amount had to be placed in cell J26. Thank you for your help! |
