Hi I was trying to add a custom symbol so I could compare it and plot it to an existing symbol on my chart. When I reloaded my chart it gave me an error message saying Error downloading historical intraday for warren indicator {XLY}*{XLF}*{XLK}/{XLP}*{XLK}*{XLU} ERROR: INVALID SYMBOL. Can you tell me what is wrong?

We just tried this particular custom symbol and it is working fine for us.

Make sure you have followed all the instructions at the following link:
Custom Calculated Symbols: Instructions

In particular, step #10 that has you set "Uses Formula Operators" to "Yes".

One thing we do want to point out in your formula is that you have XLK being multiplied twice. If you wanted the left side to be divided by the right side, then you need to add parentheses so that your formula would be the following:
({XLY}*{XLF}*{XLK})/({XLP}*{XLK}*{XLU})

Thanks for your response, I tried the steps you gave me. I selected "use formula to yes" corrected the double entry and added the parenthesis and still getting Error msg. Can you please send me the settings for these ETF sector funds on the Symbol Settings menu. I've tried many times and still can't get it to load. Does it make a difference if its after hours?

If it is after hours, then you will not get any data. Let us know if you are still having an issue with this today. If so, what is the exact Error Message you are getting?

As to the settings, the only items that really matter are the "Tick Size" and the "Price Display Format". You would want to use whatever the smallest tick size is for the symbols that make up the Custom Symbol, and then the Price Display Format is set by whatever the Tick Size is.

Check the symbol settings and if the option for "Download Historical Data for Formula Symbol" is set to "No", then change it to "Yes".

If you still have a problem, then open a chart for each of the symbols individually, and make sure you are able to get the data for each symbol. Then try the custom symbol again.
