As a long time SC user and one that has experienced performance issues in the past with Denali data feed I can tell you their recent improvements have paid off big-time. Today during FOMC performance was perfect. You need to enable heartbeat logging and check that. Here is a recent thread I posted from CPI. Most likely the issue would have to do with your Internet connection. It is not something we can necessarily do anything to directly help with. And you cannot make an assumption, the problem is on the Sierra Chart side. What we need to see are the heartbeat messages: Prices / Data Falling Behind: 4.17 - Providing Heartbeat Messages to Sierra Chart Support We also want you to update to the latest version of Sierra Chart to ensure that you have the most up-to-date heartbeat logging. And just for the record, you are in the UAE. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. i am aware of my location. and i can certainly accept some kind of a delay but no complete standstill. as it is right now, i am totally unable to trade as it doesnt even properly stream during a normal day anymore. here is the heartbeat log Denali Data Feed | Heartbeat from server , ServerReceivedClientHeartbeatSecondsAgo=10, NumberOfOutstandingSendBuffers=5, TransmissionDelayInMilliseconds=205, ServerSendBufferSizeInBytes=33866, ActualMessageDelay=2.2 seconds, DataCompRatio=3.21, UncompressedBytes=890744, CompressionTime=0.004684(secs), NumCompressions=155, Source=10.10.20.111, MaxSendBufferSize=70799, MaxSendBufferSizeDateTime=2023-09-22 14:23:40 | 2023-09-22 10:23:50.912 Denali Data Feed | Heartbeat from server , ServerReceivedClientHeartbeatSecondsAgo=9, NumberOfOutstandingSendBuffers=9, TransmissionDelayInMilliseconds=305, ServerSendBufferSizeInBytes=51225, ActualMessageDelay=7.8 seconds, DataCompRatio=3.23, UncompressedBytes=2021778, CompressionTime=0.009758(secs), NumCompressions=240, Source=10.10.20.111, MaxSendBufferSize=81777, MaxSendBufferSizeDateTime=2023-09-22 14:24:08 | 2023-09-22 10:24:16.454 Denali Data Feed | Heartbeat from server , ServerReceivedClientHeartbeatSecondsAgo=9, NumberOfOutstandingSendBuffers=10, TransmissionDelayInMilliseconds=330, ServerSendBufferSizeInBytes=62926, ActualMessageDelay=2.6 seconds, DataCompRatio=3.24, UncompressedBytes=2706537, CompressionTime=0.012862(secs), NumCompressions=285, Source=10.10.20.111, MaxSendBufferSize=115981, MaxSendBufferSizeDateTime=2023-09-22 14:24:15 | 2023-09-22 10:24:31.306 Denali Data Feed | Heartbeat from server , ServerReceivedClientHeartbeatSecondsAgo=9, NumberOfOutstandingSendBuffers=3, TransmissionDelayInMilliseconds=155, ServerSendBufferSizeInBytes=5446, ActualMessageDelay=0.5 seconds, DataCompRatio=3.23, UncompressedBytes=3343829, CompressionTime=0.016023(secs), NumCompressions=359, Source=10.10.20.111, MaxSendBufferSize=115981, MaxSendBufferSizeDateTime=2023-09-22 14:24:15 | 2023-09-22 10:24:49.236 Denali Data Feed | Heartbeat from server , ServerReceivedClientHeartbeatSecondsAgo=9, NumberOfOutstandingSendBuffers=9, TransmissionDelayInMilliseconds=305, ServerSendBufferSizeInBytes=51189, ActualMessageDelay=2.0 seconds, DataCompRatio=3.24, UncompressedBytes=4222338, CompressionTime=0.020045(secs), NumCompressions=444, Source=10.10.20.111, MaxSendBufferSize=115981, MaxSendBufferSizeDateTime=2023-09-22 14:24:15 | 2023-09-22 10:25:10.673 edit: regarding my internet connection: i am on 500mbit fibre. speedtest with a server in chicago shows still roughly 13 MBit (another one 28 MBit), which is obviously no light speed, but should be good enough to send some ticks. This is a definitive indication of Internet connectivity issues outside of our servers and network: NumberOfOutstandingSendBuffers=10,
This is too many outstanding send buffers that have been unacknowledged. This is something that definitively will cause the data feed to stop when this gets to be too high. as it doesnt even properly stream during a normal day anymore.
Yes this does indicate an Internet connectivity issue. The absolute speed you are measuring is irrelevant because there is some other communication problem going on.Set this to Yes: Sierra Chart Server Settings: Always Use Port 443 For Real-time Data (Global Settings >> Sierra Chart Server Settings >> General >> General) Set this to 1000: Sierra Chart Server Settings: Remote Buffer Delay Send Time In Milliseconds (Global Settings >> Sierra Chart Server Settings >> General >> General) Set this to high compression: Sierra Chart Server Settings: Use Real-Time Data Compression (Global Settings >> Sierra Chart Server Settings >> General >> General) And set this to a smaller number like 10: Sierra Chart Server Settings: Max Depth Levels (Global Settings >> Sierra Chart Server Settings >> General >> General) See if these things help. And for the record what is "ridiculous" your word is your Internet connectivity. That is where the problem is. That is absolutely definitive. You are only describing your own Internet connectivity issues. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users.
