Is it basically possible to trade none simulated in instance 2 and higher?
If so, what do I have to set?

Many thanks

We do not understand the question. So you want to perform live trading? That then gets communicated to the main instance of Sierra Chart and sent to the connected Trading service?

I am sorry.

That then gets communicated to the main instance of Sierra Chart and sent to the connected Trading service?

This is my intention. Is that possible?

Yes, that's perfectly possible, as long as the first instance is connected to your trading service. Just set the second or third instance to non-sim and select the account you want.

Hope that helps.

Thanks but I don't know what to set.

In the first instance I am connected with my trading service. But here in Instance 2 (pls see pic)? No idea.

Many thanks

Nicktrader,

That seems ok.

Make sure that you have "Listening Port" and "Historical Data Port" on "Sierra Chart Server Settings" / "DTC Protocol Server" with the same numbers.

Also, if you have more main instances than this one, make sure those figures I mention above are set to different values.

Hope that helps.

@Rui S

Today the stock market is closed. On Friday, I had tried to place LIVE trades in instance 2. But the trades were rejected.

Therefore I was unsure if I can trade LIVE at all in instance 2 (and higher). I did not change anything in the settings. I will try it again at the beginning of the week.

nicktrader,

You certainly can trade from any sub instance, as long as its settings are correct.

Another suggestion:

Go to the main instance folder and delete all the sub instances folders (save the data folders before deleting, if that data is different from the data you have in the main instance data folder).

Then open the main instance, go to "File" and click "New instance".

This action will create a complete new sub instance with the same settings as the main instance.

Then try it out with your live account. If it works well, restore the data folder previous saved in order to have your previous saved chartbooks and other files you might need.

If you have more than one main instance in your computer, don't forget to make sure there is no duplication of the numbers attributed to the "Listening Port" and "Historical Data Port" on "Sierra Chart Server Settings" / "DTC Protocol Server".

Good luck with that.

Two souls one thought. Just as you suggested, I was going to test tomorrow.

Thank you for your thought.

Today the markets are open again and I have moved the instance 2 folder completely.

Then I opened a new second instance. But the data for service and server are the same as before (see pic).
I also tried to place a "LIVE" order in instance 2, but without success.

What can I do to trade LIVE in instance 2 as well?

nicktrader,

Given your description, I guess that you should have some setting in the main instance that is somehow causing that.

My next step would be to install a brand new main instance (not changing any settings of it) and then create a second instance from that main instance. If the problem disappears, I would go through the related Settings menus of both (old and new) main instances and would try to figure out what settings are different.

Meanwhile, you have probably already done that but you can also try and read the related information:

Using DTC Server for Data and Trading in Another Sierra Chart Instance

If none of the above sorts out your problem, I don't know what else I can recommend you except waiting for an answer from the support.

Again, good luck with that.

I have completely reinstalled and also reopened instance 2.
Unfortunately no change. LIVE in instance 2 was rejected. In instance 1 LIVE without any problems.

Still waiting now for SC Support.

That was the crucial clue. The Trade Simulation Mode was enabled in instance 1.

Many thanks
