[Locked] - Regarding Requirement for Package 10, 11, 12 for Connection to CQG, IB.

We have put out a notice to our users through the System Notification window in Sierra Chart for the requirement to use package 10, 11 or 12 for connection to CQG, Interactive Brokers and other external services, for new Sierra Chart accounts and when there is a renewal of usage time on the account.

This is the notice:

Some users have not seen this notice.

What we are doing now, is we are giving users access to Service Package 12 for free, for 30 days. So the user can continue on package 3 or 5 but not have to pay anything more and be able to connect to their external trading/data service.

It is necessary though to have an active service package at 3 or 5 to take advantage of the free access to Service Package 12.

We have increased this to 60 days. There is nothing you need to do if you have been given access to package 12 or higher, using our evaluation functionality. We will automatically increase the time length by another 30 days for you. If you do not get this, let us know.


If you have already changed your Service Package from package 3 or 5 and are using CQG or Interactive Brokers, then you can contact us here and we will give you 60 days free of package 12 through the evaluation functionality, then we will change your service package back to 3 or 5.

In this way you will have access to package 12 free for 60 days. And not have to pay the higher package price during those 60 days by having to change to either package 10 or 11 depending upon whether you are using package 3 or 5 currently.

Regarding post #2:
Your account has been provided access to package 12 for 60 days. If you would like to upgrade your account to this package, then go to the Activate Services page.

We have changed your paid service package back to 5 for now. You can stay on that package for another two months.

Let us know if you need further help.

Regarding post #3, no you do not need to make any changes now. You are completely fine right now.

I need Sierra_Chart_Real_Time CQG. I have useing it for simulated transaction only. So,I have changed package 3 to 10 with CQG, with version 2350 and I can not connect. What shell I do more in order to connect?

You should not have a connection problem.

Follow the instructions here to clear the Message Log:
Message Log: Clearing the Message Log

Connect to the data feed:

Select "File >> Disconnect"

Select "File >> Connect to Data Feed"

After about 30 seconds, provide a copy of the Message Log following these instructions:

We will then determine what the problem is.

I should have read this post before. I had to change from package 3 to package 10 with Denali feed to avoid any interruption. What should i do to have the 45 days free and return to package 3 when amp will be ready ? thanks

I should have read this post before. I had to change package 3 to package 10 with Denali food to avoid any interruption and be able to operate with the CQG service. What should I do to have the 45 days free and return to package 10 when the package is ready?

Hello, minutes ago I paid for Package 5 renewal (I use CQG data for GBP Futures through AMP).

Wasn't aware of this issue as I was using my Sierra Charts without a problem on Friday but now after paying for the package this morning, none of my charts are updating to live prices.

I realise now that we have to switch to a higher package but I just made a payment for Package 5, do I have to pay again and lose the money I just spent on Package 5?

How can I resolve this issue?

Regarding post #13 and #14:
This is resolved for your account. We provided your account access to Service Package 12 at no cost for 60 days.

After that you need to change to Service Package 10 or 11 depending upon whether you were using Service package 3 or 5. Package 10 is equivalent to package 3 and package 11 is equivalent to package 5. Service Package 10 and 11 support connections to external services.

Shall I ignore that message since you said here that it will last 60 days?

I am also having the same message box.

Also, I am not getting real time data. Data stopped on Friday June 10 at 5pm and charts don't have any data after that. I currently have Real Time CQG data with AMP Futures and I select CQG WebAPI as Data/Trade Service in SierraCharts.

What should I do to continue getting Real time data and be able to trade?

Hi - I also bought the level 10 package with CGQ/AMP.

On an additional issue, I have had SERIOUS issues with running speed since this change was made. Some issues are:

1) SC takes a very long time to startup ~2 minutes, which is new
2) On initial startup, no data will load. All I get is a blue box at the bottom saying "waiting for historical data". This is true for both historical and intraday charts.
3) The workaround I have for number two is to disconnect from data feed, then reconnect. This then redownloads data and will update chart. At this point I can now trade

- This process takes around 5-10 minutes in total each time I restart SC. I have to do number three every time I start the program. Again, this is new since the CGQ/Denali data feed change. I have a hunch either I configured something wrong, or Denali is not playing well with CGQ. It is getting to the point of frustration I want to change software, but like SC enough to want to stay.

Regarding post # 18 this is definitively not a Denali Data Feed specific issue. It is a general performance issue involving your system and the amount of charts you have and the amount of data to load.

And it has no association with the Denali Data Feed and CQG combination.

It is hard for us to know specifically what the issue is in your case but the most probable help topics would be:

One important difference between the Denali Data Feed and CQG is the Denali Data Feed provides data for historical futures contracts. CQG does not. The data for expired contracts is missing and then has to be downloaded. All that data has to be downloaded and can take some time. Once it is downloaded it will not be done again.

When you reconnect to the data feed, there may not be any further attempt to download historical data for expired futures contracts. It depends. There are certain conditions which control this. We would have to examine the code to look at the conditions.

However the links we gave above, certainly are going to help with improving overall performance.

Sierra Chart no longer supports market data from CQG for CME group and EUREX. This is firm policy.

You have to cancel market data that you pay through your AMP trading account. We do not support that any longer. You will not have to pay exchange fees, for June. That will be free.

Also, at AMP I was getting CBOE Volatility Index (VIX). Where Can I get VIX now in Sierra Chart. The Denali feed doesn't have CBOE?

No. You just tell AMP, that you do not require market data from CQG. Only order routing. This is all.

Sierra Chart does provide the volatility index futures. Agreements and activation can be done here:

If you are referring to the non-futures volatility index, then you can continue to pay for that through CQG. It is supported still.
