Hi there, I right click for example on my PoC line, select "alert", and then click "Enable Alert For Chart Drawing", and select Alert1 sound with Only Trigger once option. However, nothing seems to happen. Please can you help me set-up alert on Sierra chart? Best wishes, Nilesh |

Alarms entered via a line never work for me either. I can set an alarm via right-click add Alarm and that shows up in Alarm Manager but never when I use a trend line (horizontal) even when I follow the Sierra guidelines and of course add the 'Enable Alert for Chart Drawing'. Personally I think there's a minor programming error. |

We are not able to reproduce any issues with the Chart Drawing Alerts. If you can give us the step-by-step to reproduce the problem you are having, then we will try that and see if we have the same issue. Thank you for looking into this. I have a 3min chart of SPX500 (FXCM) open. Price is 4145. If I right click the chart around the 4160 level and use "Add symbol alert' using 'last' the alert appears straight away in Alert Manager, all working perfectly. Now I enter a Horizontal Ray at 4175, the line appears on the chart. I then right click the horizontal line and click 'Alerts' I make sure the Enable alert for chart drawing' is clicked. The other boxes are 'Crossing' and 'Last'. See attached image. But nothing appears in the Alert Manager so the alert is not working from the Horizontal Line. Instead of "Crossing", choose "Above".

Thanks, but I've tried 'above' as well as High + Above and so on. Nothing seems to work when using a Horizontal Ray, ie the alert is shown in the Alert Manager. The only time an alert works is if I right-click on the chart but this is pretty useless to me because I can't see the alert on the chart and if I use many different alerts on many different markets it's impossible to keep track. |

INTERESTING! This might help with the problem. When I made the post above I said SPX500 (FXCM) was at 4145 and I put in a Horizonal line at 4175 and tried to attach an Alarm which didn't show up in the Alert Manager. The price has now moved through the line at 4175 and the line started blinking. Price then moved back below the line and it stopped blinking. Within all of this, the alarm still never showed up in the Alert Manager. |

It is expected you would not get a signal, at the time of adding the alert because you are using Crossing. Change that to "Above". It should have: the alarm still never showed up in the Alert Manager.

As noted above, since you are using "Crossing", the alert condition will not come true until the Last price goes through the price level where the Ray is located (i.e. the last price "crosses" the ray). But, when your ray blinked, which is one of the indicators that the condition was true, then you should have had an entry in your Alert Manager. If this occurred recently enough and you have not exited from Sierra Chart, then we would like to see a screenshot of your Alert Manager. The alert should be in the list. Here's a 3 images of the process, I cannot see where I'm going wrong with the Alert Manager is still empty. But as I've always said, if/when I use Right-click add Symbol Alert that always works - both the alarm if hit + it appears in the Alert Manager. I'm using 2351 version. |

In this last example you have the Last price needing to be "Below" the ray. The last price is well above the ray and therefore there is no alert. What we need to understand is when you do have an alert for the drawing (the drawing blinks) are you then not getting anything in the Alert Manager. Thanks, but if I put in above/below/whatever, the alarms (using a line) just do not work for me. I have tried every permutation possible and still nothing works. Why doesn't Sierra make it a lot easier and every time an alarm is used a line is automatically drawn. TradingView does this and it works great. At present, I can put in an alarm using right-click 'Add symbol alarm' which appears in the Alert Manager but it's pretty useless because there's no way to see where the alarm is. Very easy to enter a load of alarms today and have no clue where they are tomorrow etc. Yes, I can look at the Alarm Manager but that's not visual, and some people like have 50+ alarms set. So an auto-generated line would solve this problem and if people don't like it (unlikely) they could use a feature like 'hide alarm lines on chart'. Something to think about. Here is what we would like for you to do: - Draw a Horizontal Line above the last bar in the chart, it doesn't matter how far, just make sure it is well above the last price. - Right-click on that line and select Alerts. - Select the box next to Enable Alert for Chart Drawing to put a checkmark in that box. - Select Last in the box on the left for "Study Subgraph". - Select Below in the box on the right for "Comparison to Drawing". - Make sure Comparison Precision is set to Inherited. - Select the Alert Number you want to use in the Alert Sound box. - Make sure Only Trigger Once, Alert Once per Bar, and Blink Once per Bar are all Unchecked. - Make sure the Tool Configuration for Appearance When True is set to None. -Select OK. As soon as you select OK the line should start to blink (change color to a darker shade and then back to the standard color) and you should hear the sound that is set for the alert. Let us know if this does not work. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

John Thanks for the above, sorry to take so long to reply, been crazy at work. I have done the above and yes the line does blink. However, nothing appears under Alert Manager [Symbol Alert]. Thanks again! |

On the Alert Manager select the Log tab. The Drawing alerts will be in that section, not in the Symbol Alert tab.
