I noticed two things - "Extend Until ...." only works as soon as the candle has closed. - M3 and M1 Chart are linked to M15 with the option "Copy Chart Drawing ...", but in this case they are not displayed. If you remove the checkmark at "Extend until ...", the OHLC_Ray is displayed. Ver.: 2232 Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-02-25 16:06:59

"Extend Until ...." only works as soon as the candle has closed.
We do not understand this. If the option for "Extend Until Future Intersection" is set for the OHLC ray, then as soon as you finish drawing the ray, it will only extend until it encounters another bar. If you are putting this on the most recent bar, then there is no bar ahead of it to stop it, until the next bar starts and possibly intercepts the line. M3 and M1 Chart are linked to M15 with the option "Copy Chart Drawing ...", but in this case they are not displayed. If you remove the checkmark at "Extend until ...", the OHLC_Ray is displayed
This makes sense, depending on how far the ray is being drawn. If it is intercepted prior to 15 minutes then there would only be a single dot drawn, which would not be visible. If you turn on a label, then you would be able to see where the drawing is on the chart that has them copied to it. You really have to look at each drawing to determine how it would get copied to the new chart. May I please continue this OHLC conversation? I have two issues as shown here: https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVOzcriMg=/?moveToWidget=3458764525897156659&cot=14 1. OHLC ray's do not show pricing on the chart when they intersect with future price off the chart. I would like to see the pricing float on the line at the hard right edge and only stop when the intersection is made. See drawing... 2. OHLC rays pricing labels overlap with the candles of the intersection. I would like to see some margin built in by default so the text never gets combined with the candle. Hope it can be considered at some point in the future if the OHLC Ray or the tools in general get a revision. Ideally, I would like them to feel like the tools on miro.com. There's something special about how the tools were designed on miro. No need to open control panels to edit them. Double clicking a line lets you type text in it (without having a right-click, select from menu, type, click ok on dialog, etc.) On Miro, you just double click and type. To adjust you just click and drag. It feels different than SierraChart and I would like the drawing to be as fluid (and also export to PDF just like Miro allows). |

We have set these as Feature Requests. Note that we can not say when, or if, we will get to any particular feature.

Hi John / SC Support Another OHLC request: Sometimes the candles have the same price for the Open and Close, or the Low and the Close, etc. In those cases, the OHLC tool doesn't allow me to specify that I want the Close to show in the label. So, when you are at the far right edge of the chart, you have a line that may be is the Close and you are wondering why it's labeled as the Low. Idea: Allow the user to choose the label priority. For example, if they want the open/close to show instead of low/high in cases where those prices are the same. A simple checkbox: Give Priority to Open/Close when they match the High/Low. That will allow the tool to default to O and C instead of H and L as it does today. And if that can be saved in the TC (template configuration) that would be great. Thank you. |

Congratulations! Today we can celebrate our first anniversary. One year ago I started this thread and unfortunately nothing happened until now (just joking). Isn't it possible that you open an extra "Drawing Tool Project". I've been around for a while and as I see it, nothing has happened in this area for a long time. I would have a long list of improvement suggestions and I can imagine that other users have a similarly long wish list. Anyway, I would be very happy if you could realize how important a good drawing tool is for traders and therefore start a "Drawing Tool Project". Many thanks |

Funny nicktrader. Patience. SierraChart is a great tool and even if these guys sat on their hands, which I do not believe they are doing, they are still better than everybody else. That said. Like you, I will keep pointing out little things I might like to correct. Which is why I have also returned to this thread about OHLC. Besides the request that all objects should be able to be cut at a certain point, the OHLC has some other problems. 1) If looking at historical data and using an OHLC with intersect active to backtest, there is a bit of a "tell" because it will not show the labels and that means there is indeed an intersection coming up. This can affect how you trade. So that problem needs to be fixed. The Intersect feature should show the display like extend does until the intersection candle actually appears. If the OHLC had the typical text options to display text, it would be great because we could tell it to keep the text at left instead of at right. 2) Also, the OHLC doesn't offer a way to set text sizes nor to use the global font. I use crossover to run SierraChart on a mac and recently I enabled the high resolution mode. This is beautiful and makes the charts less jaggy. However, it also makes the text on my OHLC so small I can't read it except with glasses (must have gotten older - yes time is passing, but I hate pixelated graphics more than the small font for this one tool). All of the other tools use the Global Settings> Graphics Settings -Global > Fonts tab > Chart Text (Global). I've gone through all of them setting them to Consolas 6 point, but the text appears to stay as Consolas 3 point, which is tiny and readable, but not ideal for my vision. So, if we could align the OHLC and give it the ability to set it's own font AND to use the global setting AND to allow us to cut it at a future date, that would be terrific. I've also noticed that some of the tools, when I cut them, change their angle and then I have to use the align to get them aligned with a fork, for example. I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to give every tool the ability to edit on the Anchors tab where the cut occurs? And, because the location of the cut may cause the slope to be wrong, if perhaps we could enter the slope and have the system pick an additional point, wherever that needs to be in the future and include that anchor point on the Anchors tab in order that the slope doesn't change? I'm probably getting too technical, but I love the cut feature to keep the charts clean. I just didn't realize how difficult it would be to keep the objects accurate if they only have two anchors and are cut. Here's the example: take two candle tails with different prices and connect them with a ray. Then cut them at a future date. The ray will change direction. It's because the cut line is now set between the start and end rather than the two tails and then a 3rd point being the cut point. It seems that the objects, because they only have two points to use, much choose an approximate 2nd point, which moves the anchor from one of the tails and therefore changes the slope of the line. So, I think the idea of cutting objets may need some more engineering and may require an additional anchor point. This seems fine to me, because I would also like to set the Anchor point on the line for the text I wish to see. Sometimes I want it on left, right, or somewhere in between. I would like to just drag the text anywhere and have it anchored. So perhaps if we add Anchors for the OHLC so that we have start and end, we can have a cut that works at the end wherever we wish. And for the other objects that have two points already, they would get a start / end and have a cut added so that they draw using start and end to create the slope and then the cut to end the display of the object on the chart. Thanks guys. Hope these notes help you. |

Here's a list of tools that do not let me modify the font size and that do not respect the global values. I think we have to fix these so they at least respect the chart text global value style. And in a second step, each dialog needs to have a font selector added. OHLC Marker Chart Calculator wait a second. I found it! On Global Settings > Tool Settings > General There I can select "Global Chart Drawing Font" Mine was set to Consolas 3. Now it's fixed. This is the reason I think all the objects should be direct manipulation. Sometimes, the settings for an object are in so many places that it's easy to not realize where to look. It gives the impression that the tool was not developed by a single architect. One developer puts the settings in Global Font. The other puts the settings in Tool Settings. Another gives you an override of the global on the tool settings for some objects, but not for all of them and nobody gives you a link back to the global menu from the tool menu, so you have to go hunting for those global settings. Anyhow, I found them. Still. The other thoughts I mentioned above may be valid once they become a priority. Good thing we have tools like chat.openai.com and bard.google.com that can take entire forums and give priority lists of things that need to be solved and those that are already resolved. Should make it easier for the team, if they do start a "Drawing Tool Project" where they align all this stuff with a modern drawing system that uses vector graphics, PDFs with searchable text, and direct manipulation and perhaps chat-based object manipulation assisted by AI, to make the project easier to organize. |
