What particular label do you want to appear?

It should be obvious, all the pivot labels.

It is not obvious to us. What may be obvious to the user, often is definitely not to us because we do not clearly understand what you want. It is still not obvious. Do you want a Name label? Do you want a Value label? And for what particular Subgraph? From your image, we do not see any problem. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. We do not even know exactly what your settings are for all of the different Subgraphs, what the study values are, what other studies you have on the chart. There are just too many things for us to be contending with to give you any definite answer. In short, check the settings and check the data. There must be something wrong with one or both of those. If you view the screenshot, you see that I have selected to use the name labels on this study and yet they do not appear on the chart. My question was why do they not appear on the chart?

Probably because of the study itself is not even visible. You have highlighted the R1 Subgraph, but we do not even see that on the chart. At least it is not clear to us. Once again, what may be clear to you, is not to us because we are not setting up the studies. We do not know exactly what you are doing. When we say check the data, we are referring to checking the Pivot Point lines values themselves using the Window >> Chart Values Window. This way you can see all of the values. What we normally would do is to see if the study values are within the visible price range. You are actually in a better position to determine the problem than we can A good method of troubleshooting, is to clear the chart of all studies for simplification. Then add the particular study you have a problem with, and make sure all of the settings are at default, or at reasonable values. Check the values in the Chart Values Window and experiment with the settings. Try different Label alignment options. Refer to the documentation for the different settings available. This is really what makes our job exceptionally difficult. Users can do millions of things with Sierra Chart and create millions of different problems for themselves that we have to sort out and try to figure out what is going on. That is why often it is the user who is best able to help themselves by taking the time to read the documentation understand what they are doing and go through a logical troubleshooting process to determine the problem. In short, we do not know the answer to the question because the information we are given is unclear and incomplete, and we do not have control over the chart and the study. Maybe the best approach would be to request Remote Assistance if you need more help: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/support.html#Interactive Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. The study appears on the screenshot I sent. The reason you don't see it is due to the absence of labels, the lines are visible. After reviewing your technical studies reference for this study, I was not able to resolve my issue. I have been using SC for a while now and have found it quite useful, but truthfully it is difficult to recommend it when time after time I see similar traders' requests for help and support folks are too busy telling them they're too busy to help, like now. No need to respond as I know you're busy. Thank you anyway.

Not sure if it helps, but here is an image with the study with labels: http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1384543177617.png The PP label has been set to be Right aligned and Centered just like you have set. This was a new instance of the study added to the chart. The labeling does work properly. The documentation we were referring to was the Chart Studies documentation : http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_ChartStudies.html#TechnicalStudySettingsWindow We see that you are on package 5. We can give you a quick call and use remote assistance to see what the problem is. We need you to put your telephone number here: https://www.sierrachart.com/usercp.php?page=ManageAccountInfo This is not a case of being too busy to help. time after time I see similar traders' requests for help and support folks are too busy telling them they're too busy to help, like now. No need to respond as I know you're busy.
We do not see how this is accurate. We did not say we were too busy to help you. When you can, point out specifically where we said we are too busy to help someone with a question that is within the scope of our support. If we say we are too busy, typically that is in response to a request for new development. If we are too busy for some new development, that is an honest appropriate answer. We do not know of any instance where we say we are too busy to help with a basic problem/request. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Bruce, try removing the Pivot study and adding it again. I did see a problem too (no labels after scrolling), when adding the Pivots study to a new chart. After removing it and adding it again, I couldn't reproduce this behaviour though!? SC you might want to look into this. There might be a problem with the Pivots-Daily study. I'm not having a problem with my existing charts, but when adding the study to a new chart, there seems to be some strange behaviours. E.g. when you choose the Horizontal Align Name Label "Left", it doesn't align left (s. screenshot for R1). |

Thinking about this some more, the best way for us to help with the problem, is to get a Chartbook with a single chart that demonstrates the issue. We should have asked for that earlier. Because otherwise, we don't know what the problem is. The Chartbook can be attached here. When you choose Left for the horizontal alignment, it does not mean far left. It means left of the right side of the Subgraph line. To actually get it on the far left you need to choose Left Edge. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Regarding Left for the horizontal alignment, I see now. Thanks for pointing that out. My understanding (sofar) was, that Left means on the left side of the pivot line, just as Right aligns the Name label on the right side of the pivot line. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2013-11-16 09:16:10

Documentation has been updated with descriptions for these different horizontal Alignment label options: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_ChartStudies.html#NameValueLabels We also want to add, that the label functionality is very simple and reliable. If a label is not visible, there must be a simple explanation for it. Either the Subgraph is not within view of the price range of the chart, there is not enough fill space displayed or the study is just not visible.
