Hi, I'm going the Free Trial and as suggested I have my DTS set at "SC Forex Data(FXCM).

I do utilize Ameritrade but noticed that option is for Trading..not sure of the difference with that and Data.

Anyway, although I see the minimized charts via the tabs on the bottom left of the screen, all I'm able to view are Daily and Weekly charts..

15 or 30 min charts quickly flash and the screen remains black..

Please advise

The selected feed is for Forex and CFD Symbols as is documented:

For Stocks you will need to use the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service following the steps here:

Thanks..I think what happened is I had that setting last night and the intra-day charts didn't populate..am I able to view those ones at night?

It's working now though..

Hey, I'm interested in the Ask/Bid volume data..So, Volume at Bid vs. Volume at Offer

I found the "Ask/Bid Volume Difference Bars" which btw doesn't seem to be working..

How would I get that one up and running and what are the names of the other studies based around the above mentioned volume data?

Thanks so much for your prompt replies..

J.

You can look at Intraday charts anytime that you want. You just need to make sure you have the proper Service selected. All supported services are documented here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/data.php

For historical Bid Volume and Ask Volume you need to use a supported Data/Trading service which provides this data. These are documented here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_NumbersBars.php#ServicesThatSupportBVandAV

All studies are documented on this page:

Thanks once again..am now able to view this Volume Bid/Ask differential data.

That being said, it seems to be only available for intraday charts and not on Daily/Weekly..Does that seem right?

Also, I'm looking for the total # of Shares Traded at the Bid/Offer not the # of Trades. It's a subtle yet very important distinction for me.

Knowing this, which of the many Volume Bid/Ask indicators that you provide should I chose?

Thanks so much,

Jonathan

Bid Volume and Ask Volume only is available with Intraday charts.

It sounds as though you want to work with the Bid volume versus Ask volume study.

Thanks so much as I'm picking up things at an ever increasing pace.

Was wondering what BidAsk(Blue Highlight in T&S window) signified..can't quite get my arms around that one.

Obviously, I know what the other choices signify(bid, ask, below bid, above ask..etc) but don't really get the explanation for "BidAsk" in the guide.

Also, as I'm becoming more comfortable with these volume indicators it would be great to be able to scan the entire market to meet some of the criteria that I'm noticing.

Is that possible?..and if so, how might I go about finding the setup for it?

Thanks again,

Jonathan

Hi, it appears that the "Bid Volume vs Ask Volume" indicator that I've recently been excited about doesn't start tallying unless the chart is open.

I hope this isn't the case or the solution is something as simple as checking off a box in some settings area(please inform if so) because it's obviously important to get that info correct right from the open and how would you manage this if you have +50 stocks in your AWL..have all of them open in minimized tabs at the bottom of the screen?

I so hope not..

Looking forward to your response.

Jonathan

We see you are using TD Ameritrade and they do not provide historical Bid Volume or Ask Volume. Refer to the bottom of this page here:

Hi, I've noticed that some symbols, like CNDO, have a very small "Date Range in File"..in this case, only about a month.

How might I increase the amount of Intraday Data available for any one stock?

Is there a Global Setting that will set the beginning date, say 1/1/08 for every stock with me not having to do anything?

Thanks so much for all of your help.

You have to ask yourself how is it you would be able to get stock data earlier than when a company went public?

Okay, so that was a bad example..smart ass ;-)

But I think I've noticed it on other stocks that existed beyond that of the start date of the data file.

Either way, the more important question is can I change when the Intraday Data File starts?

Thanks again,

J.

We made a mistake. We thought you were referring to Historical charts and not Intraday charts. After checking your prior message, we see that you said Intraday.

The answer to this is in help topic 42.1:

Hi, is there a functionality that I can say "indicate when a block trade occurs for stock ABC"?

And I would be able to set the threshold for the block trade..say 50k shares.

So, if any one trade goes off in Time & Sales during a set period for say 50k shares, the chart would indicate it some how.

Is this available?

Thanks again,

Jonathan

Help..my trial expired and I just paid..yet I can't connect.

I find it very discomforting that apparently there's no phone support.

Please advise what is required to restate the package I had during the trial as apparently the one I chose doesn't do that.

How I'm supposed to know that is beyond me.

Thanks

The problem is you need to restart Sierra Chart after the payment. Please do that and then if you still cannot connect, please let us know.

Thanks, everything's back to normal

That being said, is "Bid Volume vs Ask Volume" a Package 3 function or only Package 5?

All I need is the ability to import this Volume Data from Ameritrade and interact with it via the above mentioned indicator BV vs AV

What is the total cost of doing that?

I also saw mention of discounts..how might I find out about those?

And lastly, do you provide phone support?

Thanks,

Jonathan

Bid volume versus Ask Volume is supported in all packages.

Did you need this for stocks or futures?

Pricing can be found on this page:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/Packages.php

For phone support, refer to section 5 here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/support.html#Interactive

Just keep in mind, due to the nature of our business, being that we provide a wide array of functionality, support various external Data and trading services, and have low pricing, means that phone support is not something that we include in the packages themselves and users cannot expect to simply to call us up on the spot expecting us to answer, and get an immediate resolution to the problem, whatever it may be about.

This is simply not feasible. While we do provide telephone support, It is an extra charge, we have to understand what it is about, and the most qualified person will be there to help at the appropriate time.

If we only had to help people, with difficulty with logging into Sierra Chart, or giving you access to Sierra Chart itself, then this is no problem. However, rarely would we ever be called about something like that because there is often little issue with that.

I need it for Stocks only..as of now.

So, you're saying I can duplicate what I had during the Trial period with Package #2?

If so, I paid $27 for Package #3 this AM.

Can I make that change in the Account Management page..If so, will I get an $18 credit or would that amount be used for 3 more months of Package 2?

Also, I've noticed that sometimes data gets frozen on my Charts. I can tell because the little green box in the bottom right of the chart goes from Green to Red.

What do I do should that happen?

Thanks again,

Jonathan

Package 2 only connects to Bitcoin Data and Trading services.

For historical Bid Volume and Ask Volume for stocks, you will need to use IQ Feed:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/DTNIQFeed.html

If you lose the connection to the TD Ameritrade service, than Sierra Chart will automatically reconnect if Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Reconnect on Failure is enabled.

Well, I'm using Ameritrade(Trading) setting in DTS which is giving me the intraday BV/AV..

The only disadvantage(hassle) is I have to keep all my charts open for that indicator to start up right off the bat on the open.

But that's a "Trading Service" so I could theoretically use Package 2..No?
