Hi,
I have say 10 markets. I have a daily bar and a 30min bar chart for each. EAch has its own chart link. Linking symbol, session times and timezone, trade symbol. I want to use chart link buttons to achieve a function, where I can have a daily bar chart (lets call it X-D and a 30min bar chart (X-30) that I can use to swap between these 10 different markets without effecting the 20 charts that I already have.

tHESE 20 charts are on 2 diff monitors. I have a 3rd monitor where I want to only have X-D and X-30.
Hopefully I have explained this well.

I have put a control bar with chart link buttons on X-D and X-30 but each time I select one of the chart links from the 10 markets, it will change the charts, rather than changing X-D or X-30.

Effectively I want X-D and X-30 to be slave minic charts, mirroring one of the 10 markets that I can change between fast.
Your help as always is much apprecited.
Best
T

The only way to do what you want would be to do it backwards from the way you are thinking.

You would need to have charts X-D and X-30 set to be a certain link number (say Link #1). Then to change those to a specific symbol you would need to go to one of the charts for the symbol you want and then enable the "Link #1" control bar button for that chart. This will then change X-D and X-30 to be that symbol (and whatever other Link options you have setup for them).

Thanks John.
I tried that as a workaround. But when I changed the 'source' chart to the link that X charts were on, it didnt change the x charts. Instead, the source charts market changed to what was on the X chart. I tried setting it where neither X charts were master 'Yes', but the source charts were set to master 'yes'.
Ill play around with it.
Thanks for the input

The "Master Mode" is not going to solve your particular issue. That is only for link options that are not set the same for different charts, in order to not have all items update if you did not want them to.

You should not have an issue if you set the X charts to be a certain link (say Link #1) and then the other charts to have no link, then say you want to set the X charts to symbol ABC from Chart #1, you would set the link for Chart #1 to be Link #1, at which time the X charts should update to the link settings for Chart #1.

You would then need to remember to remove that link from Chart #1 before doing the same thing for Chart #2, etc.

I gave this a go.
in the same chartbook - I have a ZN chart on NO LINK. I have X chart on link #14. I change the link on the ZN chart to link #14, but nothing happens. I tried it with only symbol selected to change on chart X, also tried it without. Its as if no action is taken once I change the ZN chart to link #14. I hit insert to reload the ZN chart thinking it might trigger a refresh. There was no effect. I also reloaded the X chart but no effect. Message log didnt show there was any triggering of reloading any charts either.
Strange.

Make sure that the X chart with Link #14 also has the "Symbol" option set to "Yes" for the linking. The same is true for the ZN chart, even though the Link # is None/zero.

Then try again - it should change the X chart to ZN when you do this.
