Getting Started - Can't Find any tickers

I'm new, got package 10, Denali Data, signed agreements, enabled the Consolidated Tape.... but I still can't see tickers.

I have a chart open, but it only wants to see the free trial tickers. It can't see TSLA for example. I've updated symbols from server. If I right click on the chart - chart settings - symbol - select - US Equities - Consolidated Tape ... all that's there is AAPL, but I can type in TSLA and say GET SYMBOLS, it'll find TSLA. Then I can make that chart TSLA. Cool.... but I want to change tickers on the fly, all day long. I can't go through all these steps each time.

It seems like it should know all of these tickers, but it doesn't. I feel like I'm just missing something obvious, but I've really been trying.

Thank you!

All of the symbols for the U.S. Equities are not listed in the "Find Symbol" window. There are just too many of them. You need to type in the ticker symbol for the particular item you want in the Selected Symbol field. Or, if you do not know it, then you can use the "Find Symbol" window to search for a symbol based on the description. Follow these instructions for this:
File Menu: Searching for Stock Symbols

Thank you, but that's way too many steps.

I'm going to try one more time to explain, cause I feel like I'm missing something super obvious.

I have a chart open. I type in SPY, and it does nothing. I type in AAPL, and it goes there, no problem. I type in anything else, besides the free trial tickers, and it can't find it.

Like Nvidia for example, I want to tell it NVDA, but it won't pull up the chart. We can't do complex searches every time we want to change a chart... it's designed to just type in the ticker and load that chart, it just doesn't seem aware of the tickers.

I feel like my chartbook is stuck in trial mode or something, no way would it be this many clicks just to change a chart's ticker.

EDIT: Simple question, how can I just type the ticker in the chart to change to that ticker? If I have to add the ticker to the list first, then how can I add them all? Wildcard * didn't work. This is all I need.

Your Sierra Chart account is active and no longer a trial. To make sure you have full access to all symbols we want you to restart Sierra Chart.

You can directly type a symbol into the chart window, to immediately change to that symbol. Refer to:
Changing the Symbol of a Chart: Quickly Changing the Symbol of a Chart to a New Symbol for which a Data File Does Not Exist

To quickly change the symbol of a chart to a new symbol for which a data file does not already exist, follow these instructions:

Activate the chart by clicking on its title bar or anywhere on the chart.

Type a slash (/) followed by the symbol, and press the Enter key on your keyboard. Example: /ESH25-CME or /AAPL.

The chart window captures the keystrokes as you type them. There is no specific place on the chart you need to type them. The keystrokes will be displayed in the title bar of the window.

For this feature to work, you need to have the option Global Settings >> General Settings >> Charts >> Symbol >> Support Symbol Entry from Chart Window enabled. You may want to disable this option to prevent accidentally modifying the symbol of a chart from inadvertent pressing of keys on the keyboard.

THANK YOU! You know what you're doing.

When it's the first the ticker is being loaded it has to have a / in front of it like /IBM, then it can be loaded just by typing /IBM right into the chart. Then if you give it a few seconds it updates and then you can just type in IBM without the flash and it'll work (but if you switch to aapl then ibm again real fast, it won't work, have to give it like 3 seconds to update).

I know it's in the documentation somewhere, but man, that was a tough one. Being told to go into all these settings and updating ticker lists and then being told that you can't see all tickers cause there are too many.... and in reality you just need to know to put a slash before the ticker on the first time. I can't imagine how many people uninstalled at that point.

It's been like a full day now, and I can FINALLY begin to use this program. That setup was tough. But I think it'll be worth it. Thank you.

This cannot be true. You can enter a symbol at any time even when the chart is loading. You do not have to wait.
