Can I have the global time zone set to a different time than my local timezone clock?

I'm currently going through the list recommended by Sierra chart for performance optimization. One thing I came across was timezone settings. Due to the U.S handling daylight savings at a different date than my own, I decided to simply set my global timezone in Sierra chart to a U.S time, and I picked New York. This has worked fine. My computer clock however is naturally set to the local timezone for practical purposes. Time Zone Setting: Using Different Time Zone in Individual Charts The Time Zone setting in Windows must also be correct. For example, if your computers clock is set to US Eastern time, then the Time Zone setting in Windows needs to be US Eastern.
This seems to imply I need to set my local windows clock to New York time as well. Can you clarify if this is absolutely necessary, or if there's a misunderstanding here? Thanks. |

Your computer clock can be set to any other time zone. Time zone is not anything that would make a performance difference though. Where did you see that? Time zone conversions, are handled extremely efficiently in Sierra Chart. There is next to no processing at all. Virtually nothing. It is extremely fast. Would not even take a microsecond to do a time zone conversion. It is going to be in the nanoseconds. If even that. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. At this point I've got 40 tabs open after clicking other links within the original performance optimization guide so I'm not sure, but iirc it was because of the data delay in the header which showed that I often had a 3 second delay that reset back to 0 constantly. This got me wondering if the lag I'm seeing as price is developing is due to this issue. It's normal for the Data Delay to be between 00:00:00 to 00:00:02 right? It seems to oscillate in that range when it's set to local but also when it's set to server synchronization through NTP, didn't make much of a difference. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2024-10-28 00:24:44

That small of a difference can be due to any number of things. It is not something that you need to be concerned with.
