Trade and Current Quote Symbol - Tick size change resets when switching data feed

Hello,

I'm using:
Symbol - Full-size contract
Trade and Current Quote Symbol - Micro-Contract
Use As Trade Only Symbol:Yes

Tick size: I set for Micro Contract

For Example, the Australian Dollar:
The full-Size tick is 0.000050
Micro tick is 0.000100

It then works fine, shows the 0.000050 tick increments price on the chart, and only allows 0.000100 ticks for orders, cursor hoover; all works perfectly. What a great feature! I just discovered it!

However, if I change Data/Trade Service from IB to SC DATA, it translates symbols, but the tick size is reset.
I tried both ways, setting tick then SC DATA > IB, and the other way, both lost the tick adjustment.

I tried adjusting in the chart and Global Symbol Settings, but it is reset when I switch data.

Accept it's prob an IB glitch, but am I doing anything wrong?

You are not doing anything wrong, and it is not an Interactive Brokers glitch. It is our system that is resetting the tick size based on the information for the symbol. So when you change services, you are updating the symbol since each service uses a different symbology. In doing so, the symbol related settings are set to the values in the Symbol Settings for that symbol.

There are three things you can do, one of which is not recommended.

1) Do not change the Data/Trade Service Settings. You have us curious why you would be changing your service settings to go from IB to "SC Data - All Services". There really is no specific reason, that we can think of, for this. If you are not wanting to trade with IB, then enable "Simulation Mode On", but you can still be connected to IB.

Or, if you have a need for different services, then you might want to install a second Sierra Chart so you are not having to switch back and forth. Refer to the following:
Using Multiple Data and Trading Services at the Same Time: Step-By-Step Instructions to Install Multiple Copies of Sierra Chart

2) If you are ALWAYS trading the Micro contract with full size contract, then you can change the Symbol Settings for those contracts for each service so that it will always update to what you want for that service. You can also enter the "Trade/Quote Symbol" in the Symbol Settings so you will get that Trade and Quote Symbol filled out when you change symbols. Refer to the following:
Global Symbol Settings: Instructions

3) [Not Recommended] There is a setting for "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol >> Do Not Change Symbol Settings for Chart on Symbol Change". This will cause none of the symbol related items to update with a symbol change. This may be overkill for what you want, as there will be other settings you will probably need to update. Refer to the following:
Chart Settings: Do Not Change Symbol Settings for Chart on Symbol Change (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol >> Symbol Settings menu)

Thanks, all understood.

Ref why I swap data IB>SC. TLDR - it's because I'm a bit lazy.

I like to open Sierra Chart in the morning for a few hours to analyse, and I can't be bothered opening IB and logging in before opening SC. Also, not having TWS logged in upstairs allows me to log in to IB Mobile quickly during breakfast.
So, I swap DATA at the end of the day so that I can open SC in the morning nicely and cleanly without having to remember to open IB.
It also just feels nice to have SC open and not TWS, (it turned into a bit of a ritual for me).

I will have a rethink regarding my daily SC>IB>SC routine

Many thanks
