If I am trading through IB and have market data there, and also subscribe to Denali data here, why am I limited to IB symbols? I use a service which provides a study and references Denali symbols but not IB symbols, so I would like to be able to use the Denali symbol even if it is only on one chart that I don't trade on. Thank you |

I use a service which provides a study and references Denali symbols but not IB symbols, In this case what you need to do is set up another installation of Sierra Chart following the instructions here:Using Multiple Data and Trading Services at the Same Time: Introduction And follow these instructions to have access to all of the symbols used by the Denali Data Feed: To access historical and streaming market data independent from your Trading service. Follow these instructions. Set "Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Current Selected Service" to "SC Data-All Services". Press "OK" And then translate the symbols in your Chartbooks and Sierra Chart using this "Edit' menu command: Edit Menu: Edit >> Translate Symbols To Current Service (Translate Symbols to Current Service) You can then use the data provided by Sierra Chart independent of your trading service. Hi, I have the same issue, Denali for data, IB for trading. Are you saying in order to not have it try to load crappy IB data every time I start Sierra that I have to run a second instance with Denali? That means switching to another instance to trade from a chart which is very inefficient. Is there no way to have Denali data on my charts by default but trade from the chart through IB at the same time without a very complex reset every time I open Sierra? I use a lot of older intraday data from Denali for my analysis and each time I restart Sierra all charts get replaced with IB history which is terrible to non-existent. I have to change the Data/Trade service to SC Data-All Services, then reload all the charts by changing something in the chart settings to make it recalculate, then switch back to IB but tell it No when asked to translate the symbols. Then I have to manually change my trading chart to an IB symbol in order to trade. Is there an easier way to do this? |

No this is definitely not the case: Are you saying in order to not have it try to load crappy IB data every time I start Sierra that I have to run a second instance with Denali?
Refer to: Real-Time Exchange Data Feeds Available From Sierra Chart: Integration with Trading Services What we are referring to in post #2 is to solve this very specific specialized case: I use a service which provides a study and references Denali symbols but not IB symbols,
This is not applicable to you at all. This definitely makes no sense and cannot happen: I use a lot of older intraday data from Denali for my analysis and each time I restart Sierra all charts get replaced with IB history which is terrible to non-existent.
Existing historical data cannot be replaced like this. It will never happen. As long as you are on a Service Package supporting the Denali Data Feed and paying the exchange fee for the symbol, the data will always come from the Denali Data Feed. You definitively never never have to do this and it is not making any sense to us: I have to change the Data/Trade service to SC Data-All Services, then reload all the charts by changing something in the chart settings to make it recalculate, then switch back to IB but tell it No when asked to translate the symbols. Then I have to manually change my trading chart to an IB symbol in order to trade. Is there an easier way to do this?
This is completely unnecessary! You never ever have to do anything like this. And we mean absolutely never. And besides it does not even make any sense because the symbols are different between SC Data-All Services and Interactive Brokers. You would be accomplishing nothing by doing this because the symbols are different between the two services. Please do not follow up in this thread, because you are jumping into another user thread, which is completely irrelevant to you.
