I'm looking to add 5 day composite VA and POC to a chart (t-5 through t-1, not including current day). I've read (and re-read) the settings and believe I'm getting the wrong output on the chart. settings in attached file, what am I getting wrong?

The reason you are not getting what you expect is that when you reference periods back, it is the number of periods that are set by the "Time Period Type/Length". Since you are looking for a 5 day period, looking back 1 period would look back the period that started 10 days prior and when to the 6 prior day (i.e. days 6 through 10). 5 periods prior would be days 21-25. The only way to do this would be to use the "Volume by Price" study and set the Input for "Volume Graph Period Type" to "From Start Date-Time + Fixed Time Length" or "From Start Date-Time to End Date-Time". This way you can set the particular start and end for the period you want to cover. Refer to the following: Volume By Price Study: From Start Date-Time + Fixed Time Length This also means you would have to update that date each new day to move things forward by 1 day. does that mean that if I use this study and can set lookback period to 0 rather than 1it would give me 6 days t-5 thru t-0 (current day)?

you're saying there isn't a dynamic setting for having a multiday composite profile without manually changing a hard coded start/end dates?

Since you are wanting 5 days, but not the current day, the only option is to hard-code the dates into the Volume by Price Study.

In this case, you could set the "Volume Graph Period Type" to "One Period at End of Fixed Time Length - Auto Skip Empty Days". Refer to the following: Volume By Price Study: One Period at End of Fixed Time Length - Auto-Skip Empty Days Then set the following: - Time Period for Fixed Time: Days - Time Period Length for Fixed Time: 5 For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
